Tyhjiönsuojelijat

The culture present on the orbital habitat of Kiertolainen, above Trepidationary. The habitat had a population of about 11 million at its height, with a 70/30 split between Humans and Sapient Synthetics. Conquered and subjugated by the Cellean autocratic space in the mid-2300s, about the same time as Mad was activated, right in Kiertolainen.

History

Pre-Cellea

The habitat called Kiertolainen was constructed as one of the first to settle the planet, in the 2290s, along with three others. It, and the rest, are a fourth-generation colony. Despite some tension between them, they developed, grew, and existed as most other new habitats in human space, for about half a century or so until the Cellean empire showed up.

Cellean occupation

The star system, Kalavale, is a mere 33 lightyears from Cellea. This being the case, it was conquered fairly quickly once the Cellean Autocratic Space started properly gaining momentum, and ended up as just another Cellean vassal-system. It was around this time that one Martte Silkanen, nowadays known mostly as Mad, grew up. He was about 20 when the Cellean empire arrived, and due to seeing the subjugation of his home, the process being quite violent, planted a seed of distrust and hatred for it, that would blossom in some 120 years or so.   As a Cellean vassal, Kiertolainen and the other habitats in-system were largely loyal. The population may not have liked it, but there was little they could do, and being under Cellean rule did allow trade and advanced technology for them, though they were treated worse due to their resistance to the conquest. Sometime during the 2360s, Mad would join the Cellean navy, eventually climbing the ranks of the 28th fleet and meeting Stringer after his first campaign.

Post-Cellea

The habitats around Trepidationary were largely united in their rebellion when the chain of revolts reached them. While they were close enough to be dealt with by the Cellean military's remnants, they were nowhere near important enough to be prioritized, and eventually fell into a gap of bureocracy, and were never bothered by Cellea proper.   In the 2630s, after even Cellea itself had fallen to the chaos of the Cellean empire's collapse, a devastating conflict occured between some warlord or two, ending up with Kiertolainen destroyed. The culture and people live on somewhat, as the four original habitats had collaborated on a joint colonization effort, and now it has spread to several systems, though each has evolved somewhat to be distinct from the original.
