The Creation of The Isle od Szed

After creating Earth and filling it with life, Vasele looked upon the Earth and saw a great lack of strength. So the great god of creation searched the land and the sea and the air for the perfect place on which to forge a shield. Whence Vasele found an empty space large enough, it struck that vast expanse of water. From that place emerged beneath the waves a rocky volcano filled with Vasele's own blood. The blood that bonds the inner power, keeping it safe, keeping it forever alive. This dormant volcano, which from then on would collect the inner power of beings, brought onto Earth great protection and security.   And Vasele considered the creation, realising that if it stood open and unguarded, the powers within would be open to abuse. So Vasele forged from its godly body vast mountains to form a belt around the volcano, and pulled from its ever-burning heart the liveclay from which it built Giants to protect the belt, Sireni to protect the sea, Vilai to protect the land, and Almae to protect the air. And so never would another landmass of Earth touch this area or even come close, and never would the people from other parts of Earth see or touch or smell this land. And from that time and forevermore, whence a human passes through the land they will pass through a field of water and know naught of this land.   Vasele was satisfied. But whence came the time to give Pervii to the great volcano, known henceforth as Szed, Pervii begged Vasele to allow them to live, as life was a joy and a gift. Vasele approved their wish, but gave them only a newly formed land around the isle of Szed on which to live and thrive. And so, Pervii joined the Giants and the Sireni and the Vilai and Almae too, to plow the land and live in harmony until the moment came to flow their power into Szed. So Szed keeps it safe and forever alive.

Spread

The myth of Szed's creation lives within every person in Senn Celai, and so it shall remain. From this myth sprouts the knowledge of the power, of Magika and of the grave importance to keep Celai safe from the reach of outsiders.

Variations & Mutation

This myth was first written down by the greatest Pervii scholar, S'ves Narod ly Allwise, for short The Allwise. She lived a thousand years after Pervii settled in Senn.   The Allwise penned the first written history of the Sen Celai, by name of The Written Record of Our Times (trans.) This priceless artefact from the time of Pervii now rests within the realm of Vilai, somewhere deep underground. The translation into modern Celain language is in all libraries across Senn. It remains a myth, as Pervii wrote it as such, for none of them witnessed Vasele's creation of Senn, but heard stories from their predecessors. And so the myth remains.

Cultural Reception

All cultures, save from the Vidurians, hold this myth as one of the most crucial tales of old.

In Literature

There are numerous plays and historical novels written about this myth or with this myth as the backbone. Lately, however, this trend grew out of fashion as people were tired of old stories.

In Art

There are numerous depictions of Vasele's creation of the Senn Celai. Paintings, tapestries and statues show every detail of the myth, and many of these still survive in Castle Svetil and Castle Lukal.   There are numerous songs that cover this myth, both as the main point and as a background motif. Many are forgotten but at least 7 are still sung on occasion.
Date of Setting
This myth dates from the time of the Arrival of Pervii, tens of thousands of years ago.
