Before the rise of the religion of the five dragons that accompanied the rise of the power of the fairies, each of the countries worshiped different animals. The animals are naturally recognized as being of the four elements. The five dragons incorporated elements of Zahl the tree to encourage conversion.
Counter Culture
The
The Fairy Council under the direction of
Sabel the Peaceful created a new "universal calendar." It is heavliy influenced by the astrology of Five Dragon. The months of the
Trilenius calendar uses the animals worshiped by the different countires to encourage adoption.
Those of the counterculture refused to adopt the homogenization of their deities into token calendar names.
They still worship "the old ways" focusing on the principles portrayed by the animals. More intentse, nature oriented, instead of the "civilized" astrologically based faith.
Culteral Relations
Worshipers of animals are typically anti-authoritarian as the astrologist are seen as usurpers to the old ways.
The Fairy Council sent their ambassadors into the many countries. They felt that these ambassadors put too much influence over their local governments or royalty. The Fae (evil fairies) try to take the elements of "the old ways" and radicalize them into minions to do their bidding.
