Tissue Regeneration

A breakthrough technology with far reaching implications, tissue regeneration allows for the fast and effective treatment of many different types of wounds.
Various levels of tissue regeneration exist, from a small handheld device for cuts and scrapes, to a large, full body chamber for major or systemic trauma.

Utility

Tissue regeneration is used for the treatment of medical maladies ranging from something as small as a cut, to something as disabling as Tehnaokis in Retikan Seadwellers.
As mentioned above, the discovery of tissue regneration was originally made while searching for a non-invasive treatment for cancer.
There are no known misuses of tissue regeneration technology.

Access & Availability

At the time of the initial discovery, access to tissue regeneration was limited to individuals who could make their way to the ICMC, due to the bulkiness of the machinery required. 
However, by Earth year 2410, the technology level has developed to the point where handheld tissue regenerators are a common household item, and nearly every medical center has at least one full-body regenerator available for use.

Complexity

The technology is fairly complex, as a specific power source is needed for the energy, and varying levels of power amplification are needed depending on the size of the regenerator.

Discovery

This technology was originally discovered by a team of Itakian medical researchers at the Imaka City Medical Center, well into the planet's scientific revolution, and during a period of time where the Itakian people were in power. 
The team had been looking for a way to treat cancer patients using radiation therapy, and discovered a specific type of energy that jumpstarted the body's natural healing processes, closing wounds at a vastly accelerated rate.    While the treatment offered little aid to the treatment of cancer cells, exposing a healthy person to varying levels of this energy allowed for damaged tissue to be repaired and restored to a fully functional state.
