Hisuru Amajoo

Hisuru Amajoo: The city fortress home of the Nhia-Samri.
Deep in the mountains that make the western border of Nassur is the once-secret fortress of Hisuru Amajoo. Hisuru Amajoo is a vast complex of farms, parks, military compounds, artisan village groups, and the mighty Nhia-Samri fortress. It is thirty square miles of an artificial valley carved out of the heart of the mountain range. Legends claim that the gray elf Shar-Lumen befriended stone giants and commissioned them to build a home for his band of mercenaries and their families where they'd be safe.   Tails of Hisuru Amajoo tell of five hundred-foot walls of solid stone over ten yards wide surrounding the entire valley which has thousands of feet of cliffs all around with only one passageway hidden by powerful illusions and wards of protection.   Hisuru Amajoo is a legendary sight that lives up to its reputation. Only full Nhia-Samri citizens or carefully vetted guests are allowed to visit Hisuru Amajoo. The precise location of the fortress city is still not known as it does have magical protections that no living person understands. After the death of Shar-Lumen, which ended the Nhia-Samri war, an extensive search of his notes, research labs, and writings was made to find any information on Hisuru Amajoo's defenses and construction. No plans, details, or even a drawing of the vast complex has been discovered leaving many to speculate that the mysterious and secretive elf had hidden chambers in the fortress where his secrets are kept to this day.   The fortress city has many legends which have proved to be fairly accurate.   1. The fortress cannot be found from the air. This is true, only specific flying creatures can successfully navigate to and from the vast fortress. All observations from aerial platforms have proven unable to locate the immense valley.   2. The entrance moves. This is true. The one path into the secret city is a mountain pass trail that shifts locations at irregular times. The Nhia-Samri have the means to know where it is, and where it will be in the near future. Those that have traveled with a band of Nhia-Samri to the hidden city have been unable to determine how the warriors navigate to the pass. Entrance to the pass always involves moving through a dense grove of tall trees. Once travelers are in the pass it is a mountain chasm pass with easy sloping paths wide enough for up to eight wagons side-by-side.   3. The moving entrance is warded against any who are not being willingly brought in by a Nhia-Samri warrior. This is true. The entrance has golem guards which attack anyone attempting to enter without an escort. Also, there are unconfirmed stories of the entrance guardians destroying any attempting to sneak using a captured Nhia-Samri warrior as their key.   4. The entire complex has a thousand-foot wall that is over two hundred feet thick. This is partially true. The oblong valley is walled in by thousand-foot cliffs. There is a space of half a mile between the edge of the valley cliff and the city fortress's tall walls. The city has approximately thirty square miles of space inside the first wall. The city's exterior wall is three hundred feet tall and one hundred feet thick at the base with a thirty-foot wide and twenty-foot deep exterior ditch. The top of the parameter wall is has a nine hundred-foot-wide walkway, fortified with stone barracks that comfortably accommodate fifty guards every quarter mile. There are eight gates through the parameter wall at the compass rose points.   5. The main fortress is made of glass and cannot be damaged by even the gods. This is partially true. The main fortress at the center of the valley is on a hill rise and stands ten stories tall with arched bridges between five towers. It is made of the same substance as the ancient city fortresses. However, the substance has been altered by some unknown methods making it a glossy pitch black with a smooth surface like glass.   6. The city is made of gold. Initially, to visitors, this appears to be true. However, the city's buildings are made of a kind of stone that has a golden color and can be polished to a mirror-like surface. However, the buildings are made of strong carved stone. The majority of the city has a ceramic tile roof structure with many flares and statuettes.   7. The city does not need any support and can survive a siege forever. This is true. So long as the parameter wall holds Hisuru Amajoo has every resource it needs to sustain its population and army inside.
