The term Sprawler traces it's origin back to a street gang of the late 2030s, calling themselfs 'Children of the Sprawl' and having thier home turf in one of the very first BAD-SECs.
The term is often derogatorily used by corporate citizen to (wrongly) describe most or all non-corporate citizen and has gained a somewhat negative conotation because of it as the true history of the term is largely forgotten.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

A universal experience of Sprawlers is the fight that is required to survive and make ends meet. There are few Sprawlers that haven't experienced hunger and being grateful for that one meal of disgusting nutri-sludge that kept starvation at an arms-length. The back-breaking hustle that is required to pay the bills. The constant fear of living in a crime-ridden, rule of the strong neighborhood where a gun fight errupting night and day is more of a weekly happening rather than an exception, if not for ones own safety, for that of a loved one.
There are two types of Sprawler, those that are grateful of what they have and those that are envyious of what they don't have. However both types of Sprawlers naturaly knack to make the best of the situation they find themselfs in.

Shared customary codes and values

Sprawlers come in many forms and are a diverse bunch. In stark contrast to the heavily regulated and uniform lifestyle corporate citizens are raised in, Sprawlers are shaped by thier individual circumstances.
There are but a few shared ideals and values among Sprawlers, one of them is both an anti-corporate and an anti-law enforcement mindset rangeing anywhere from distrust to open hostility, usually attachet to an "us versus them" mentality.
