Sandibar

Sandibar is a modern form of the older Proto-Sandibar spoken among Sandibari before contact with their northern neighbors The Stenza. It is primarily used by Sandibari still living on Mudewei for their own reasons, and is learned by Sandibari moving back to it after a lifetime or two of traveling amidships for various species within the galaxy.   Within planet-dwelling (as they are called) Sandibari there is a movement to study and revitalize the older forms of their language, suspecting that parts of their oral history had been destroyed or warped due to contact first with the Stenza, and then with others. While the oldest possible accounts of most events have been long forgotten and naturally evolved with each telling, Sandibari linguists and historians suspect that trying to piece their language back together (a daunting task as it is) might provide clues and serve as a preservation effort for their larvae. Although it seems near impossible, they have been able to work with Stenza historians who have records of the earliest forms of Sandibar that they have encountered. From there Sandibari have been able to recover terms and meaning that would have otherwise been lost, and were thus able to reconstruct their earlier history.   In modern times, Sandibar retains a sort of influence from their northern neighbors, but is considered "closer to its roots" than Sandibar-Stenza, and the two dialects are distinct enough to be considered as such despite their higher mutual intelligibility when compared to other versions of the Sandibar language that have propagated throughout the galaxy.
