Blaster Rifle
Next to the Shield, the blaster rifle is one of two key components of the Soldier's rig. The rifle is built to sheathe the arm, forcing a stance which pushes one side forward and shields most of the body from enemy fire. The trigger mechanism is located near the center, a highly sensitive mechanism which reacts to the movements of the fingers. This makes the blaster easy to use, but unwieldy to the inexperienced.
Blasters are most commonly used in off-world campaigns, and are almost always solar powered. UV radiation collected through nano-cells and other minor "flaws" within the steel used to construct the weapon are stored in the power cell, located on the underside, under the trigger mechanism. Like a smartwatch, this can only be viewed by someone looking directly at it, requiring the weapon to be turned upside down.
Along the left side of the weapon is a row of sensors. The user runs their fingers along these sensors to summon an "options" menu of sorts for the weapon's settings: stun, kill, and anti-robot functions. Each function has its use in battle, but it wastes precious seconds to switch between them. Therefore it is common practice for specific units to designate a function before a mission: taking prisoners (stun), disabling enemy tech (anti-robot), or simply killing everyone possible.
