Predimus' Restorative Apertures

The Hermetic Covenant of Therionastis is home to a dozen magi, and their apprentices. Most of them are specialists in healing, and spend much of their time practicing and researching healing magic, but one among them is Predimir ex Verditus, who like all magi of House Verditus specialises in the creation of magical devices. Predimir does not participate in the healing duties of his fellow magi, but he is still a healer, albeit an indirect one, and has created many of the devices the covenant makes use of in its daily activities, from wands that identify common ailments, to potions that encourage healing. Every few years, Predimir dedicates himself to a greater project, the most recent of which are the windows of the Amber Hall.   In purely mundane terms, the windows are works of art. Stained glass of many colours, they depict scenes the Predimir considers restorative - open fields, and bright forests, as well as a mountain view. Each is bordered with a line of hermetic symbols, partly inspired by Predimus' interactions with the rune magic of the Vitkir. The windows fill the halls with multicouloured light as the sun shines through them, and the sight has become locally famous, as those treated in the Hall tell stories of its beauty.   But the most important feature of the windows is their magical function. Predimir has worked enchantments into the glass and thin gemstone panes that comprise them, imbuing the windows with the ability to assist the healing of anyone within the room they illuminate. Twice daily, as the sun shines in at sunrise, and then again at sunset, a Sun duration Creo Corpus effect that eases recovery from injury and sickness is cast on all within the room. The spell makes the work of the nurses and magi much easier, as often simple bed rest will serve to restore even significant illnesses, or otherwise significant wounds, freeing their time to deal with more pressing cases. However, since the effect is cast at dawn and dust, it only affects patients who are in the room at those times, meaning that issues requiring immediate healing - severe bleeding, plague and the like, still require prompt attention from the magi.   The wealth displayed by the creation of these windows - which contain not just coloured glass but also gemstones and precious metal bindings - has some of the nobility around the covenant concerned, and they have begun to wonder what else the covenant might be able to do with its resources, especially those who have quarelled with it before. In actual fact, Predimir spent a long time hoaring Terram vis and then conjured the materials into existence, but since the magi have not felt the need to explain themselves to anyone except each other stories of secret mines, deals with spirits, and a wealth of gold stored beneath the grounds of the covenant have begun to filter through the region.
