Windspeak
If it sounds like the wind and the source is nowhere to be found, it is someone speaking windspeak.
It is undisputed that some people spoke this language, but why they did is unknown. It came about a few decades ago and it was spoken among the younger generation and it spread rather wide.
Just as quickly as it appeared it disappeared. When asked the people who spoke it say it was fun, but not there to stay.
Trying to figure out who or what the source was has only lead to disappointment. Because of this theories have blossomed and spread across the lands.
One such theory goes that a planar portal had opened, letting through creatures from the plane filled with creatures of air or wind. They then pulled on the minds of the young ones who started following their teachings, until the portal closed and the power diminished.
Another speaks of lost souls trying to communicate by teaching people to speak their language, but either they failed or the winds created were able to carry the souls away.
Hilde von Ileni stated that the language sounded suspiciously like sylvan, so a third theory is that the fey were passing through the lands with their armies but in order to make it easier to hide their presence they distracted the population with the sounds of wind as a language.
Meanwhile the fourth theory is that it was gods trying to give the population an omen that something of great importance was going to happen. What exactly has been up for debate among religious scholars. Some say the end times have come, others say the gods will soon travel to this plane once more.
