House of the Ill

Going there marks you as ill, but staying away is worse.
— Sickly human

Purpose / Function

The main purpose is to provide a resting place for the less fortunate, particularly those who are suffering from an illness.

Since the building was expanded there are also experiments being performed in order to create new ways to treat the ill or to prevent illnesses from spreading.

Architecture

The central building is a large farmhouse that has been repurposed with plenty of beds. Most of the beds are in a communal hall, with a few being separated in order to slow spread of disease.

A second building has been erected to house a communal kitchen and dining area.

The most recent addition is a building separated from the others where alchemists, herbalists and magic users can practice their craft without the risk of blowing up the main building.

History

The place started out as an empty farmhouse that was repurposed to provide temporary housing for travellers, but has since expanded to a place that cares for the sick and where experimentations on illnesses and the ill can be performed.

The building has recently come to fame as a place where Nail rot can be cured.

Due to the amount of time it takes to perform such a treatment it is not a cheap option, but for those who need their nails to work it is the only option available.

Furthermore, treatment involves ice, making it even more expensive during the summer when blocks of ice need to be brought from the mountains.

Tourism

Since there are many sick people there most healthy travellers have started to avoid it, but with the recent treatment for nail rot there has been a rise in people coming from far away in order to get healed.
