Brittlecairn Courser (ˈBRIT-el-kairn)
Considered to be the official dog of the highlands of Brittlecairn, the Brittlecairn Courser is unmatched in sprinting speed. Capable of reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour, the courser has become a premier racing dog in many places. Its primary use is as a sighthound, a hunting dog that runs down its prey by sight, and not smell. But it is little known that the Brittlehound Courser can and has been implemented as a messenger dog, especially in times of war. Swift and small as they are, it is easy for them to race from one unit of an army to another, carrying a coded message in the container tube on its collar.
It is this edge that many historians believe allowed Tralduth and Ramun Seaspire to gain so much support early on, and eventually win the War of the False Prophet, almost instantaneous communication between units. To this day, the coat of arms of the County of Brittlecairn shows one of these elegant coursers, and Seaspire's descendants, the royal Deepwalker family, still carry a variation of those arms.
