Summer Solstice Tradition / Ritual in Issolum | World Anvil

Summer Solstice

This event, celebrated as the Summer Solstice, happens every year during the summer, when the sun is at its peak for [explain science I forget]. It is the exact opposite of [Festivalis, which is held in the dead of winter.   This event always occurs in Yuna, revolving around particular days. It marks the first real day of the summer season to come.   It is an event that is most heavily associated with the Sun Aether, Soleil, as well as the South Wind, Samuel Mata. Both are known to actually attend the festival in various places.   This is normally celebrated for days around the actual celestial event. Traditions differ from country to country and culture to culture, but there are some key traditions that are the most commonly practiced and used through the continent.   The following are some of the main traditions:
  • Decorating with various artistic renditions of the sun
  • Building altars to praise the Sun Aether
  • Yuna Ribbon Dance, usually used at the opening ceremonies for the holiday. It involves using extremely long ribbons in a particular style of dance similar to ballet. It signifies the joy of the summer season, as well as the flowery and cheery personality of Soleil.
  •   One popular event that occurs during this celebration is The Milk Fair, where the production of milk from livestock is celebrated. This may include many events within the fair, such as milk-recipe contests, milk drinking contests, and livestock comparison competitions. The largest fair is held annually in Brinland, whom is known for their livestock farming and food production. Other fairs may be held in other places, and a smaller version is held in Galt.
