The Bottomless Mesmerizing Depths

The Bottomless Mesmerizing Depths is a catchall term for all the stories, myths, and legends surround the Mesmerizing Depths and its unreachable lake bottom.   The Mesmerizing Depths carries its name due to its beautiful yet unsettling appearance. It's been said it 'appears to have the vastness and grandeour of the ocean, while still being able to see the other side'. Many onlookers are unable to exactly describe what they are seeing, as at first glance it seems to be a normal lake, but the longer they stare at it, the less sense it makes to them. This phenomenon has been studied by a variety of experts, but none can pinpoint the exact cause. Some state its an optical illusion due to the lakes position, being surrounded by both large mountains and forests, making the lake appear small, even though the lake is quiet large. Some argue that there is some natural magic in the lake, and something is hidden deep within.   The lake bottom is also a perplexing issue, as no one has ever reached its deepest point, which is well below that of the ocean floor. The deepest ever traveled was by Gösta Göransson, who traveled 8.4 miles down before having to return to the surface to the water pressure, despite having a depressurizing suit. Göransson statement about the mysterious depths was that it was so incredibly dark, and daunting not knowing where the bottom was.
"I could have been 100 feet from the bottom, or 100 miles. It truly could have gone on forever. And when I got there, what would I find? That thought terrified me more than the crushing pressure of the lake."
It is unknown what is at the bottom of the Mesmerizing depths, and some experts honestly suspect their is no bottom. Over the centuries, bizarre creatures and artifacts have washed up on the shores of the Mesmerizing Depths, leading some to speculate there is life down at the bottom, maybe even some secret civilization. Others argue the pressure would be too intense for any life to be able to survive. There are also beliefs its home to an ancient, dormant creature, waiting to rise up and destroy the world. Most experts however just believe its a geographical phenomenon.
