The Birthday of a Highborn

The Highborn Birthdays are a celebrate for the entire family, the higher your rank the bigger deal is made of it. Obviously certain birthdays are more important that others, the coming of age birthday is the most important for all, that is a different age depending on your family (some species age faster or slower) for Humans thats usually seen as 16, and Tengu it is usually around 5 or 6 depending on the family.
The Day of Birth for the highborn is a day of parties, presents and presentations to extend family and allies, Parties on the day are almost as much about making deals as celebration of the birth, but thats the case with any get togethers of the Nobility in the Imperium. Not just for the person who birthday it is but their family and friends, its a good time for deals to be made in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and it not uncommon for secret deals to happen between groups who up to that time shown dislike to each other. It's also a common time for as the birthday girl or boy to be matchup with potential life partners, as they get older, as often the highborns don't get time for socialising outside of these events.
The Day of Birth is seen as important time for families, and those Coming of Age is either more important, and often they get to be head of family for the day, and can demand anything that their family head could usually do. And considering the Imperial Family follow the observance, each Imperial Child gets to be Emperor or Empress for one day, and it allows the court and Emperor / Empress a chance to see how they could peform in the role for real at a later date.
