History
Malarigh is a healing and research center in Port Silverdeep. A group of clerics and community members live in the area and spend a significant portion of their lives providing for the religious and physical needs of people in the area. The Malarigh started as a place for quiet reflection and pilgrimage for the followers of
Pelor. However, the cleric
Deannae Malarigh, who sought comfort from Pelor at the Silverdeep Refectory after losing five of her siblings to disease. She was head of the Refectory during the great destruction, where nearly a third of the town was destroyed. She spent much of her time working on rebuilding the community and organizing care for the injured.
Due to Silverdeep’s strategic location along the coast, it quickly became an economic hub for
Keoland during the recovery. After the crisis subsided, members of the community approached her with a proposal: the Silverdeep community would raise money for an official building if she and her order would provide the medical and religious care. Four years later the Malarigh Refectory and Refuge was opened with Deanne Malarigh, two additional clerics of Pelor, and three community members on staff.
Community Involvement
The Malarigh is known for their dedication to providing community care. Each individual receiving treatment is paired with a community advocate, known as a
Companion who is responsible for being an emotion and medical support for the individual. They do not diagnose but are responsible for making sure the individual follows their prescribed regiment. They also help reduce community stigma against various illnesses and diseases. These companions originally served all members of the community, but over the last hundred years the
Keoland government and nobility have quietly pushed for more exclusive and personalized care, limiting companion availability for general community access.
Research and Development
The Malarigh center is known as a leader in Keoland research and development. While it is officially a house of Pelor, clerics from other orders will visit the center to study and assist with tasks. Due to its national reputation for care and recovery, individuals across
Keoland will come to the Malarigh center for physical and spiritual healing. Most recently the center developed the
Aaquidae Vitae ritual for
Foromortem: The Burrowing Death , though this discovery has intentionally been kept from public knowledge.
