The Louve Coup Military Conflict in Furlancia | World Anvil

The Louve Coup

The Louve Coup changed the face of  the Kingdom of Furlancia. The legendary Ursus had been ruling the kingdom for almost thirty years and had begun to fall prey to his own greatness. The noble classes saw the signs within the royal household and throughout the lower classes as the serfs began to disappear. By the end, his royal decrees were no longer for the benefit of all but only for himself.   The Wolves of the court saw that the pack was splintering and this was something that they could not abide. The family was well established in the nobility and many were senior members of the household guard. What they had been witnessing and what they had now been asked to do they found deplorable. When the great Bear asked the Matriarch to have her own son put to death for a minor infraction the family decided that the time had come. Publicly, she agreed to have the execution take place the following day in the great room of the castle to be witnessed by all members of the royal court.   When the time came and Ursus came to swing the sword himself he found a spear in each of his legs. Bellowing he fell to the ground unable to stand. The Matriarch of the family had the Ursus Claw ripped from his hand before confining him to the dungeons.

The Conflict

Outcome

In the short term, the Coup was supported by almost all of the kingdom. The change of rulership meant that it was a more open kingdom, allowing for greater trade between themselves and the smaller groups surrounding them.

Aftermath

Years have passed and perhaps the old Bear's legacy is repeating itself. The Wolves have now started to overstep their bounds, trying to enforce their will on all the guilds and nobles.
