Bridgeway Railmen Profession in Frale Tides - Time of the Blue | World Anvil

Bridgeway Railmen (Railer)

The Bridgeways require constant repairs and construction, but are necessary to get to Maincities and [Towerways. Praise is often given to those that risk their lives on the upkeep and safety of the workers, but it the Bridgeway Railmen have started to fall out of favor.   Bridge Repairmen that work on the pillars that support them are highly respected, but not the railers that keep the tracks on the bridgeway intact. Because they are technically under the cover of the canopy that deters the the Fog and general dangers of the Dust, the public doesn't consider them to be in as much dangers as other bridgeway professions.   Added to that, that the rails need as much attention and repairs due to duststone constantly growing through the metals and damaging or outright breaking the wheels of Bridge Carriages, and the public complains. Not of the fact that they could potentially be stuck on the bridgeway in danger, but rather why aren't there any railmen doing their job.   Railers try to defend themselves, explaining that the duststone can only be predicted so much in its growth, and they can only be preventative in their rounds, but the stone can grow at its own will, and often does. It falls on deaf ears, and the railers continue to be criticized.
"Railers are so lazy, our carriage ride is so bumpy, we can't even have a calm ride to the towerway? They need to do their jobs."
