Gori Wax Printer

The Gori Wax Printer is a unique writing instrument that uses wax instead of ink as a printing method. Unlike most ink printers on Exflora which use raised metal letters to hold the ink, a wax printer uses the reverse negative space approach. It uses a void space to hold the wax until it sets in place and can be turned out becoming a wax-filled sheet that transports and preserves easily in the harsh environment. Once the wax sets the wax sheet is very robust and is hard to damage.   All official government documents in Gori need to be held in wax sheets as tradition dictates.   The wax printer works by first creating a wood draft of the document that is placed inside the press between a malleable resin that once pressed together takes on the shape of the wood draft. The press is then opened and the wood is removed then the press is again closed. The wax is then poured into the press through a feeding channel, now taking up the space left over by the removal of the wood. The air is then expelled through small holes in the top of the press when the wax is poured into the press. Once the wax is fully in the press it is then left to dry. Once the wax is cool the document is placed in the sun where it sets fully but still remains foldable.     The popularity of this printing method also extends beyond government documents. You will often find Wax printing being used in Gori wedding invitations, Birthday celebrations and books of local legions and poetry. It is also used in advertising street signs where product marketing is involved.    A Wax Printer could complete about 50 documents in a single day.    The wax is sourced from a local tree, so there is no shortage of wax for the process.
