Lake of Revelations

After the Daemonic Incursion, Mistral took responsibility for Expin in Domitari's absence and established a small town and temple by the lake of the craven mountains, and deemed the waters within it to be sacred, only ever to be touched by the faithful clerics in service to her. The waters were said to be blessed by Mistral herself, offering the power of insight to see beyond the limits of their own time, allowing one to see details of their fate at critical junctions of one's life, where a single decision can change one's life toward one of beauty and creation or total destruction.    Just how true the claim is has been debated, as this myth has made it a popular pasttime for children to try and access the waters during the temple's ritual ceremonies. Not all are successful, but of those who have there are mixed reports as to whether they've had a vision or not. Some speculate it may not show visions unless such a drastic decision lies in their future, or perhaps the kids who claimed to have received visions were lying for attention. Mistral has on occasion been asked if there's any truth to the tales, but she never gave a straight answer, instead just insisting that none but those permitted should enter its waters.   This coy response served to further fuel the legends until it wasn't just children who were trying to sneak in, forcing the clerics to establish wards to prevent the lake being accessed at all outside of ceremonies to Mistral. Academics and the faithful alike both know how powerful the gift of foresight can be, and in turn how damaging its effects, but the allure of that forbidden knowledge is too strong for many, especially when that knowledge is not only about them, but about a decision that would shift the entire fortune of their life in a single instant.
