Tiamat: Mother of Magic

She watches over us all, there in the sky with the gods. Do you see little one? There, with her wings spread wide to embrace us all with her love.
The constellation 'Tiamat' is able to be seen from the Northern Hemisphere of Eldris. She consists twelve stars. An inverted triangle forms the point of her head, one star at the crest of her neck, one star at her chest, three stars forming the curve of her tail, and two stars on each side forming her wings.

History

The constellation is most prominent in Dragon culture. It serves as a reminder of the young female wyverns lost defending the offspring and mothers of a rival clan against their own raiding parties. The tale is told to hatchlings and broodlings on clear nights when she is visible in the sky or under depictions of the constellation in caverns by using carvings, paint, etc on the ceilings.   Other cultures residing in the northern hemisphere have taken note of the star formation and created their own stories. Astronomers have dubbed this formation as 'The Watcher' due to the head position of the Wyvern, as if looking down on Eldris, ready to strike. In many cultures, it is a prominent star sign, assigned to those born in mid summer. Traits commonly attributed to The Watcher are vigilance, patience, ferocity, and protection. Those born under this sign are said to take up careers as city watch, hunters, shepherds, or soldiers.   Among the sea faring orcs, The Wyvern is used as a point of reference and guidance when straying too far north into the mist banks. Finding it behind you instead of in front when exiting the thick fog indicates the ship got turned around. Locating The Wyvern and measuring the stars is crucial to finding the way back to land, rather than sailing east or west until supplies run out.
