The augmentation Sphere

Travelers always wondered, how the kingdom of Zaja managed to create and sustain a magical shield around their empire. Eventhough it was a well guarded secret, information gradually leaked, leading to numerous rumors until one was confirmed by the archmage. Somewhere inside the magis fortress lies a chamber, in which the augmentation Sphere is chained up.   This ancient artifact was unearthed in 983 BA by renown archaeologist and respected wizard Ferilya. She was originally tasked by the then archmage Ragos, to research the newly discovered ruins of the Hunyo civilization as she came across a hidden chamber door. Engraved on that door was an image of humanoid creatures seemingly worshipping an orb, crowned by what looked like lightning. Opening the door, she was greeted by two crossbows pointing at her. After a brief moment of shock, a sigh of relief escaped her as the bolts just slid down the rails and fell to the ground. Time had taken its toll and rotted the strings away. Along this passage, further traps, disarmed by the passing of the ages could be seen and found. The walls were covered in paintings, some showed the humanoids getting struck by the sparks of the orbs, others writings of an ancient language. Unable to translate she continued, coming across a second door. This time, the engraving was much more sinister, showing the humanoids offering one of their kind as a sacrifice to the object, lowering their heads and kneeling while they lift their offering up. While pushing this door open, it collapsed, falling forward, shattering on impact with the ground. After this sound subsided, a faint hum could be heard. In the middle of the now revealed chamber, covered in dust, cobwebs and what looked like old pieces of cloth, laid an orb, the size of a halfling. As she entered the room, it started emitting a faint glow, the humming growing slightly louder. While cautiously proceeding, she explored the room, the walls covered in numerous paintings, showing the ancient civilization interacting with the artifact. Notebook and pen in hand, she needed to light up the area to accuratly copy the chambers art into her notebook. With a casual wave of her hand she summoned three orbs of light. In that very moment, the orb began to pulsate and glow bright yellow, before three giant, blindingly bright orbs emerged from its form, hovering in place. Taking in what just happened for a while before she dispelled her orbs, whereupon the three giant lights spheres disappeared as well. Repeating her magic, the spheroid followed suit, time and time again. Testing different spells would net the same result.   She wrote the following into her notebook: "This curious artifact seems to mimic and amplify each and every spell that is cast in its near vacinity, further testing is needed." accompanied with a sketch of this object.
