Storyteller

Summer Camp 2021

“We like to tell stories for the kids. The kids love the stories we tell. That’s all that matters.” Storyteller
They like to be by a campfire or in a library. Kids gather round to listen to the amazing stories they tell. They take up a bigger percentage of the world than you think. There’s almost always some in every nation of the world.

Career

Qualifications

There isn’t really a qualification for it. People just like to do this for fun. Kids love the story of The Devil. The huge gathering of kids usually happens at dusk. Parents usually don’t allow children to go outside during the nights but they make an exception to this. The Nightguards are aware of this and allow this to happen despite the no wandering at night rule.   Libraries have sessions dedicated to them and this seems to work. They gain a lot of new readers and help them decide on what books the children like.
“We’re very glad that the kids enjoy the stories. The Tellers do an amazing job at what they do. We’re lucky to have them around.” -librarian

Perception

Purpose

They tell stories, myths, legends. They love the kids and are very friendly.

Social Status

Its considered a low class job. It used to be popular in ancient times but has died out in popularity since the introduction of books.

History

It was a way to spread information and to keep children busy. They told of myths and legends. It remained mostly unchanged for 2000 years then as books became a thing, they didn’t need storytellers anymore. People still like this job but not as much as they did in the past.

An undervalued profession indeed. People often forget the importance of oral traditions. This was a nice, quick read.

Nice article. I like how you put the storytellers in the picture because they are indeed quite important and fun to listen to as a child. :)   I noticed a small spelling mistake for the quoter 'Libraian'. I think you mean librarian here? :)
