The Pursuers Of The First One

The Pursuers Of The First One are a loosely grouped sect of the population that has recently begun to believe that their deities are missing, dead, uncaring, false, or unworthy, and now believe that their faith is better spent on the pursuit of what they call the "First One" or "First God". While they have no direct knowledge or historical facts about their new deity this does not dissuade them, in fact it only drives them forward, to look for and make connections to anything that supports their newfound beliefs. Each discovery is shared with extreme joy to the other faithful members and celebrated vigorously.   To outsiders, it seems as though the members get more out of being a part of a new discovery process, and getting to be in on a new and unprecedented opportunity, rather than from the actual meanings behind faith, sincerity, and conviction.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

As this belief system is still in its infancy, few if any customs and traditions have been solidified so far. As like-minded people begin to group up and hold meetings, local group leaders have begun to emerge. So far each seems to have their own ideas about the practices and goals of the newly formed congregate.

Shared customary codes and values

As of now the only shared values seem to be that of believing in a supposed "First God", and ceasing to worship any of the other deities. As more and more small groups pop up in different cities and in different population types with their own agendas, there is little uniformity between them and many outright contradict each other.   Recently several groups of "Pursuers" have taken to using the Long Wick Candle as a secret symbol that identifies members and represents their beliefs and devotion to "The First One".

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Small groups are now starting to come together with this common belief, and while each new group in each new city has their own unique customs, many of them have been holding a secret celebration of the "First God" at sunrise on the first of the year. Rumors say that many are pushing for more celebrations to be held on the first of every month in order to further entice their new deity.

Funerary and Memorial customs

There have been no observed funerary customs so far. The surviving family members are usually not all members of the Pursuers and hold their funerals according to their family traditions.

Common Taboos

Few taboos exist for the Pursuers, but they all seem to shun calling out the names of other deities or worship them. However, many will fake it in order to appease their family and communities.

Common Myths and Legends

No one knows where this belief began. Some say in a dream, others claim it was read about in an ancient manuscript, a few say that it was just logical common day sense. All believe that there had to be a first god and view this deity as the most pure, most powerful of all, and the only one worthy of worship. What this deity represents, what its name is, what its divine status is, where it's been for so long, and what its plan is for them, are all questions the Pursuers hope to discover, some say by any means necessary.

  • The uninitiated and wanna be's of the "faith" are known as "Followers Of The First One" or just "Followers".

Short Term Goals:

  • To find true believers and bring them into the fold.
