The Hand Of Kirju Tama

The tale of Kirju Tama is one of unusual obsession and tragedy. Kirju Tama was a scholar that was overly passionate about knowledge and finding the answers to his questions of the world. His quest for knowledge led him to many distant and mysterious parts of the planet. In his quest for discovery, his studies first led him down the path of becoming a wizard. It was here that many of his questions about the world became answered, yet it brought him little satisfaction. The more he studied and learned, the more he yearned to know. Answers to the past and present were not enough. Soon he needed to know the answers to the future as well. This then drove him to begin his study and focus on divination, where he eventually became a specialist and master in the art. As he learned every new answer, a dozen more questions invaded his mind. He craved to know more but realized he would not live long enough to discover their answers. The only solution for him was to try to gain immortality so that he could further his studies and knowledge for eternity. His desire to know everything ate at him with a gnawing hunger. After long years chasing down countless possible ways to extend his life, he succeeded in a most unexpected way, eventually becoming a vampire. Although this was not his desired outcome, he accepted it as a simple means to an end. Through trial and error and many towns and villages, he perfected a balance between his thirst for blood and his thirst for knowledge. As the centuries passed by, his fixation on learning the mysteries of the universe drove him to the ends of the world and beyond. Realizing that there was even more secretive and forbidden knowledge of the planes, he sought out and bargained with many demons and devils. It was through one of these encounters that Kirju Tama finally made a mistake and it cost him his undead life. It is said that in a tragic barter gone wrong, one particular demon scooped him up and ate him. As he struggled in the enormous maw, his desperate hand protruded from the mouth and was bitten off just before he was swallowed. And so Kirju Tama was lost from this world forever, but his hand remained. Perhaps it was all of the years of magical studies and casting, or possibly the undead nature of being a vampire, or maybe it was the preservative qualities of the writing inks that he used, but whatever the reason, his hand remained animate and willing to share what it had learned over the centuries.

Functions

The Hand Of Kirju Tama has many useful and interesting abilities that it provides to its owner. 
The first is ability to levitate, grasp a quill or writing utensil and write down anything that it is told to write.  How it hears its owner is unknown, perhaps there is some telepathy involved. 
The second ability is that it can translate and transcribe any languages that Kirju Tama originally knew.
The third ability is that once a month, the hand will faithfully and honestly write the answer to any question asked of it, provided that Kirju Tama had known the answer before his demise.

How this hand came to have the abilities that it does is still a mystery to all those who have wondered about its origin, however many believe it must have something to do with the unique experiences that Kirju Tama had gone through.
