Following a drawn out day of adventuring, Selenea takes a seat near the campfire beside her sleeping compatriots to begin the first watch. Feeling a drag of homesickness, she digs through her pack for a while before finding the last gift she received before setting out in search of her destiny. She turns the gleaming silver pen over in her fingers for a moment before pulling out a scrap of parchment, knowing the surface of her writing does not matter, and begins to write. "Dear mother..."
Mechanics & Inner Workings
This pen writes as any other pen would mechanically, either the tip can be dipped in a lead-based ink or inserted in an internal compartment to enable writing.
Manufacturing process
Over the course of 12 hours, a moderately high level magic user must encircle a pen of a pure metal in evocation runes, strategically dripping lead-based ink among the symbols. A short piece of copper wire is then wrapped around the shaft of the pen and a ruby is affixed using the wire to the end of the pen.
Significance
The pen of limitless connections can be used to write on any suitable surface and the ink drawn to appear within a different book or piece of writing material from any distance away from the receiving material. The pen can be connected to any book by simply placing a piece of the book into a small compartment in the pen.
