Kuwor Desert
The Kuwor Desert is one of the many deserts covering the planet Yuraal. Nanjian, Mulan and Ailemìn's hometown in Cosmic Warrior Hua Mulan, is located here.
Geography
Large portions of this desert are uninhabited, simply due to it being inhospitable. There are some settlements, however, which are built around oases or along canals. The town of Nanjian is one such canal town.

Ecosystem
The desert is largely barren; in fact, parts of it are too hot and dry to support any life at all. Around sources of water, though—the aforementioned oases and canals—life flourishes.
Localized Phenomena
Sandstorms are a frequent occurrence. These storms pose a real danger to residents and visitors alike. They also drastically move and reshape sand dunes.
Some apparently-dead areas are in fact only dormant; rains can bring the barren desert to life overnight.
Natural Resources
Water is the most valuable resource in the Kuwor Desert, due to its scarcity. The construction of canals has made this necessary resource available in areas which were once barren, making more of the desert habitable. Unfortunately, there is a downside to this proliferation of water: the canals don't create water, they only move it, and this diversion of water from oasis settlements to canal towns has resulted in stricter water rationing and competition between local water authorities.
Silk is the region's most economically valuable resource, as the area is home to silk wasps.
