Dragon Tongue
Dragon Tongue is a long dead language of Casimira and few remember its existence, let alone speak it with any kind of confidence. The only ones to keep it alive in any sense is a single Fauna clan that keeps the memories that remain from before the great calamity that befell the world.
History
This particular language was spoken by dragons when they had the ability to speak a proper language, instead of communicating in roars. They could form words very similar to that of the human tongues that exist today. There was no written version of it, but it was still considered the language of scholars, for dragons were and still are the greatest historians of all.The scattered bits of records that remain say that there was a great calamity brought upon the world one day by dragons. Little is known of the cause and the dragons aren't explaining either, but the destruction was said to have covered the entire world in fire and ash. And when the dust settled, so little life remained that the gods themselves came to put things right. The dragons' punishment? To never again be able to speak the language that was so dear to them. To be thought of as mere beasts to the humans who had so short of lifetimes that they soon forgot.
It is important to note that Fauna dragons have the gift of all languages, but the gods remembered this as well when they took away the ability for dragons to speak. It is the one language in the world that is impossible for Faunas to remember and use their magic to speak fluently and it causes them immense pain to shapeshift so that they can do so naturally, as it is a huge drain on their magic. Only one clan has ever managed to retain any of this language and they all spend much time studying their memories so as to be able to piece it together. They have no way of recreating it, but it is an important part of their past nevertheless.
Writing
As it was solely an oral language, the Dragon Tongue has never been written down. The only written records are the bits that still remained from before the calamity. They spoke of a beautiful language that was almost music to the ears and felt like pure magic to be spoken aloud. Some scholars say that the tongue that was lost was indeed the language of magic.
