Chromalance

In the hands of Talia, the artifact felt less heavy. Her tight grip came from experience, as declared by all the marks and scratches on the iron handle. The motor lit up as the sound took the silence of the alleyway and replaced it with her thoughts.   She had charged the deposits with her favourite tones, a blend of blues and oranges that sometimes faded into the slightest yellows. It was an unusual combination, so her style was pretty recognizable, even when she was more focused on travel than on painting the walls. Her clawed fingers held the spear with conviction, raising the tip in a direction where she could get a good start. And with the thrumming of the engine, her boots lifted up from the ground and she felt the impulse pull her through the streets around her. The tents, the people, the cobblestone of the city turned into smears and the wind whispered into her ears. Beneath the goggles, she could perceive her next text. The way the curves of her movement would translate into the flow of the letters of the walls and the story to be told.   It was a good day.
As many look at the future looking for an idea of Progress, progress is made. And, while sometimes it takes the shape of great feats and advancements in scientific fields, sometimes it's purely recreational and made to enjoy, to obtain new experiences. That is the case of the Chromalance, a contraption used by the young of Corenio to move through the cities and paint in a free manner.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Lance is composed of several parts. The part that would resemble a Jousting Lance is adjusted to include a tube that goes through the handle and into the tip in order to provide the user with the frontal spray function.

This tube is attached to the central section, where the deposits are found. These are curved to accommodate the shape of the handle and have valves on both sides so they can be focused on the front or the rear. Any amount of deposits containing paint of different colors can be included, although for comfort riders usually include just three. To the side of the central section, there's a grip where the rider can hold and change speeds. There's also a small exhaust and a counterweight that help to balance the impulse of the main engine. This part can easily switch sides from left-handed to right-handed.   On the back of the machine, there's the engine, of small size and similar to that found on other tools that function with electricity like saws or big instruments. The main function of this section is to pressurize the paint from the deposits with enough force so that it propels the rider forward. As there's not enough liquid to push a big person forward, usually an augmentative spell circle is inscribed so more paint is available. This also allows the user to use the exhaust of the lance to do a big paint explosion and cover an area with paint.

Significance and Use

Originally, Chromalance blueprints were devised as a request from the Aquatic Fortress of Cailbrin, as a tool to rapidly absorb water and disperse any filth that would accumulate on the fuselage from the marine travel. An initial prototype was sent to the Admiral of the Fortress, who put it to good use and had great success with the invention, promptly encouraging the mass production and distribution across the many other Fortresses.

The expansion of the Lances as a work tool allowed for the young that resided within the floating cities to expand their interest in urban painting, engineering the cleaning tool into a module capable of ejecting paint at high pressures. It wasn't long before the idea caught fire across the continent of Corenio and more and more shipments of Lances got lost at the hands of the Unchained Successors, who saw a great opportunity to develop an artifact that served both as a means of fast transport and a tool to paint their ideas.

As Chromalances have been refined through the last 20 years, their role as an instrument for urban art has only expanded among the cities of Corenio and more and more reputed painters have begun to incorporate this tool into their paintings and writings. Entire walls are decorated with carefully written poems and representations of happy thoughts, as the streets are covered in colorful lines.
