Historian, Divergent

Excerpt from Upper School Text:

It is a noble endeavour to study history, and the lessons contained in the recollections and records of our great Realm. The Devouring Mother encourages all of her citizens to be educated and well versed in things practical and productive. History can be one of those things. 57,000 years of understanding, learning and progress is a daunting task to order, codify and teach. Historians are an important piece of this process. Which is why it is very sad and hurtful to the Realm when Historians become Divergent.

Any student of history, whether amateur or professional, can become Divergent. This branch of the Historian profession, like all Divergent branches of other Professions is outlawed and criminal. Divergent Historians were one of the earliest Divergent professions to be recognized as against the Glory and Will of the Devouring Mother. As early as 82 of the 12th Rs, 8 Orja-il, when the Third Statues were given to the realm, The Devouring Mother recognized chaos that citizens who endeavoured in this Divergent profession could inflict on the good Citizenery and progress of the Realm.

What makes a Historian Divergent?
First there is the subtle and eventual disregard for the Statues that denote the scope of practice for Historians.
These statues provide a lawful and safe method for the exploration, understanding and education of the Realm's history. Common statements that may be said by Historians treading the line of Divergence could be:

" There is too much fact checking with the Medicament Brotherhood. My work would go much faster if I did not have to check so frequently."
This statement points to an ethical shift that is common amongst all Divergent professionals, that being a focus on selfish progress.

or perhaps a statement of this nature...
" I sometimes feel that History is not so factual as other professions."
This statement points to an ethical shift that is common amongst all Divergent professionals, that being a doubting of the validity of the value of history.

Secondly, Divergent historians often keep secret and private records of there work. This does not last very long, typically, because by this point many Divergent Historians feel a false sense of pride and a deep sense of self-importance. This means that some point they will brag about their accomplishments.

The Third most common sign of Divergence is a subtle yet sensed disrespect for other Non-Divergent Historians.

It can be difficult to recognize a Divergent Historian which is why your local authorities and Paragons are always willing to hear your concerns and assist you.  Rest assured that any Divergent Historians will be detained and hopefully rehabilitated.
