The Folded Court

Overview

The Folded court is a guild of mages dedicated to the collection of knowledge through whatever means necessary. Once considered heroes the Folded court is now regarded as a criminal guild that stole information and hid it away from the rest of the world. Whilst there has been no formal disbandment of the Folded Court, no one has seen them for over one hundred years. Most people believe them to have simply faded away with time due to a lack of numbers, though there are some who witness curious magical phenomena and can't help but speculate their existence.
Despite the Guild's disappearance, their name can never be forgotten. The events that wiped out Deravos are written in history books. Those who travel to Deravos or sail past are constantly reminded of the Folded Court.

History

When 'The Folded Court' was founded in the Venientium Era, their goal was to procure hidden information from both The Venientium and the Veldren in a hope to free the mortal races from their tyranny. Leading up to the Ascension of guardians the Folded Court was the main force behind the mortal rebellion against the Ven. It's even speculated that at least one of The Guardians came from within their ranks. During the Mortal Era, the Folded Court came under harsh speculation as despite having achieved their goal, they never disbanded. They also withheld the information they had discovered in the previous era. The trust people once lent to the guild soon vanished. This was their downfall from heroes to criminals.  The last recorded act of the Folded Court occurred in 958 M.E. In spite of the world and all who cursed them they turned wiped out the continent of Deravos, killing all its people and severing magic from the continent. This caused Deravos to become a forsaken land. Devoid of life, magic and people. For years afterwards, there were alleged sightings and encounters with the Folded Court but soon even these faded into history.
