Cynd

Cynd is one of the three moons that orbit Ardrim, getting its name from the god Cyndor, one of the most widely worshipped gods of time. It is (or was, depending on who you ask) believed to be the physical manifestation of Cyndor in the world. The main reason that Cyndor was always associated with this moon is that its orbital period is 8 days, precisely a week in the Dalterran calendar, and is the main reason that the Dalterran calendar manages to be both fully lunar and solar.

Geography

Cynd is far mor reflective, and as such much brighter, than all of the other moons surrounding the world, as its surface is covered in ice. It can be so bright that it has been called "The Second Sun" by many, leading to nights where Cynd is a full moon to be far from dark (although still far from the brightness of day).   Beyond this specific detail, not much is known, mostly because the inhabitants of the world have never stepped foot on it. The most that can be determined from the surface of Ardrim is that there are not many craters. Instead, there are large lines running across its surface, which are gaping chasms and ravines in the ice. This makes the moon resemble a glowing, milky white crystal with countless cracks webbing across it.

History

Cynd was first given its name many thousands of years ago by the Edradian people, who worshipped Cynd as one of their primary deities. They believed that during the War of Many Suns, Cynd was slain along with Celestian and Selûne, and has since slumbered in the heavens, guarding the world against that which lurks in the darkness with his fallen allies. This most likely arose due to the precise way in which Cynd syncs with the movements of the sun, making it the most reliable celestial object for timekeeping available. While Cynd provided the length of the Dalterran week, Ceian provided the base length of the Dalterran month (although it is far less precise).
