Material of Creation and the Seed of Possibility
This is a creation myth of how the creator gods formed Arbressian. It is believed to be largely based on truth but no mortal knows the exact details of what happened or how it happened. Some information was granted by the gods themselves and the rest has been filled in by others with a mixture of fact, legend and myth. The last parts of the myth touch on The Core of Arbressian and its place in the creation of the world.
Summary
A group of deities travelled through a vast and endless space when they came across something curious. It was a huge sphere made out of raw and condensed potential. The gods decided to make this their new home and so they carved and moulded and shaped the sphere for what would seem like an eternity for a mortal.
Once they had each shaped a dominion of their own they decided to give this new universe the name Arbressian. The gods lived side by side in peace for a long time, creating new materials and the building blocks for nature to thrive. They created creatures to live in the environments they had made. This new universe also attracted other deities and immortal beings and many of them chose to stay.
Finally, once Arbressian was already a thriving universe of abundance, the creator gods - as well as some of the newer deities - came together and made an agreement that they would be allowed to create sentient species. Some of the gods decided to cooperate in making one sentient species, while other gods opted not to participate at all. Making a fully sentient species takes a lot of work and material and it was a long process for the various deities involved but after many years of work, Arbressian was also filled with a variety of sentient mortal beings.
Once that work was done, the gods taught their children species their language and moulded them with their own values and tenets to follow. Back in the Age of Creation, the sentient species were much closer to their gods and each individual followed and worshipped their respective gods without question. It wasn't until the later years, close to The Parting War that some of them started to question things and live in greater independence from the deities that created them.
After the war that had sundered the universe of Arbressian into disparate planes of existence, the untouched core of the sphere of potential was still there. The core pierced through the material plane and the Shadowfell, keeping them anchored together, and touched the Astral plane. It is believed that invisible tethers links the core to all of the existing planes of Arbressian, like threads around a gigantic spool.
Some myths say that some day in the future, The Core of Arbressian will bloom out into something new. That it's a seed of possibility remaining from the sphere of potential that even the gods couldn't alter. The myths vary in whether the seed will lead to good things for Arbressian, or if it will lead to its complete destruction and something new will take its place.
