Harvestfest

A feast of harvests gone and harvests to come

Harvestfest, also known as Harvest's End is by far one of the oldest holidays in Allucimere. Nearly all of the former Caleian Empire, and even lands beyond it, celebrate it or some version of it. During Harvestfest, it's customary to drink mead, and eat wheat or pumpking-related food items. Harvestfest celebrates the end of the harvest season therefore it usually falls sometime between the end of September and early October, although every city celebrates it at a slightly different time. You'd think a holiday about getting drunk and not having any cares would create animosity between people, but oddly enough, Harvestfest always brings entire towns or cities together, and unites people under the common goal of harvesting the fields.

History

Havestfest isn't nor has ever been one single holiday--that's just not how such events can happen. Every single city, or township celebrates its own version of Harvestfest at, roughly, the same time. All these celebrations are very similar to each other, and they all have nearly the same exact traditions. What usually varies, is, of course, the crops harvested and the products made from those crops.

Execution

Harvestfest is commonly celebrated during the harvesting season, which is early Fall. Every farmer, and even non-farmers get together to help each other out during the day, and enjoy each other's company in taverns at night.

Components and tools

Scythes, and other utensils for harvesting crops. Also food. What kind of food, you ask? Any sort of food found during Harvest season.

Participants

Everyone takes part in Harvestfest--from nobles to peasants, from men to women, from elders to children. Sometimes, even other races take part in the celebration.

Observance

Harvestfest usually falls around the end of September to early October. It is entirely based upon the most ideal time to harvest crops, which may differ from place to place.
