The Southern Tundra

Miles of Snow, Miles of Ice
In the cold of the south far from any town or village is a fast freezing desert, devoid of life save for the wandering mammothmen and the elusive rimebloom. Despite their maddening featurelessness the tundra has more to it than frostbite and insanity.

Lost City of Uranium?

In the bones of the earth are strange ancient metals, the remnants of Kegtolesx, a massive and powerful monster. These ores have many magical properties, but and extremely dangerous to handle. Scientists from kalakast can correctly identify such materials as heavy metals like uranium and plutonium, however they are bewildered by its uses in folk magic.   Legend states the long ago a mighty group of elves built a city out of these metals somewhere under the tundra, ever since ill-fated exposition after ill-fated exposition leads young men to their doom in search of this radioactive treasure trove. Anyone who understands radioactivity reasons that such a massive amount of heavy metals would have catastrophic effects on the entire continent, but even so people still go after it.

Magical Manipulation

Magic is mightier in the tundra, metaphysics claim that is is because the tundra is the home to a conjunction between many powerful leylines. Other argue that it is because the the giant magical radioactive elf city that totally exists underground. In any case spellcasters, especially druids find their spells greatly empowered in this frozen wasteland. A group of northern wizards have recently been exploring the tundra in hopes of harnessing it's power and bringing it back home. Although they have found no true success, they have discovered a large number of uranium deposits close to the surface, leading to more speculation about the city of radioactivity.
