Hightower Settlement in Afira | World Anvil

Hightower

The bastion of civilization, the height of technology, sophisticated culture, Hightower represents all the values of the north. Its three great spires stand as a universal symbol of northern power and tradition.

A Iconic City

4-story brick homes line cobbled city streets, great libraries sprawl across verdant greenbelts. Above all stands the three great towers, each one dedicated to one of the three schools of magic, summoning, evocation, and transmutation. These towers also act as the seats for the 3 royal families. In the center stands a great palace where the three heads of the houses meet and rule from.

Art is in the Air

Artists from all over the world meet in Hightower. Their styles, techniques, and ideas mix to form new and strange movements and masterpieces. The Hightower School of Arts and Literature is world-renowned for the number of skilled and famous artists it has produced.

Magical Metropolis

In the three great towers, magic is taught in all its forms, the people of Hightower consider the arcane an art like any other, all be it a dangerous and powerful one. These three schools teach the vast majority of wizards across Afira, as well sword-mages and bards. Other than the magicians that flood the streets, magic fills Hightower in other ways, levitation elevators carry people from the streets to flying islands, glowing orbs light the streets, and teleportation terminals link distant parts of the city as well as to other cities. Magic makes life in Hightower extremely easy, food can be summoned, hard labor can be done by clockwork servants. One of the reasons Hightower is so full of artists is the fact that there is little else to do.   However, the life of luxury spoils Hightower citizens, people that go beyond the city's walls find themselves terribly lost.
