U.P.I.
A Universal Planetary Identity. Used primarily as a form of identification, a UPI is only required when an individual wishes to travel via portal to another planet. THe UPI identification system is the most commonly found system throughout the known Universe for its ease, diversity, and simplistic design. Any country is able to register a Creature, but in the case of a termination, UPI's may only be terminated from the creature's home planet. Once registered, the information is sent to a communal cloud only accessible by private terminals. The system is mainly dependant on DNA samples to register, but there are multiple ways an individual may be identified such as eyes, blood, saliva, etc, so long as the identification method is consistent throughout their travels. Most creatures will register with multiple different identification methods to make their travels a smoother experience. Frequent travellers are highly discouraged from blood identification, as they will need to be checked at every terminal they come across.
Purpose
The UPI was first introduced to Adonis is 4,729, only two years after portal and planetary travel became an option. Creatures big and small flocked in, and out, of the country, and at the time, there was no way to sift the good from the bad. Sure, they had guards at the entry points, but they were only beneficial if a creature was clearly not able to enter. Letherian Minvahla vocalized his worries to a few other leaders he had met since the portals had opened, and they offered their technology in return for an alliance. Letherian Minvahla agreed, obviously, and UPI stations were set up at every major entry point.
Only two types of WaC (Wire and/or Computer) Technology are permitted in Adonis. The stations required for reading, scanning, and creating UPI's, and the prosthetic arm, "The Claw". All other forms of WaC technology are strictly prohibited and any creature found with tech will be removed from Adonisin soil. Any creatures travelling from Tech-heavy worlds may turn in their pieces at Adonisin gates for holding or proper compensation and replacement.

Legal status
A UPI is not necessary for creatures who wish to remain in their Sector within the country. Local or Sectorly portals do not need a UPI to be activated. But, any portal out of Sector may only be activated once a UPI is read. On foot, travelling from Sector to Sector, at UPI is not needed, so long as there is proof of residence within Adonis (I.e. A symbol on their left wrist, a graduate certificate, a birth card, etc.)
Historical Details
History
The UPI was first created by the Leader of Qardun as a final effort to stop the criminals and offenders using her country as a hiding place. She wanted a fool-proof system that she could rely on to ensure that all her in Country were exactly who they say they are. The system was developed by her team, and released nearly nine-hundred thousand years before the creation of Adonis. It was a system usable by all types of societies, whether they relied on tech or not, as it didn't require a whole slew of different pieces, parts, and satellite connection to get a terminal up and running. It's just one terminal, connected to a giant database of identities only accessible by the keyholder. The UPI, despite it's age, hasn't seen many updates as the first iteration was almost perfect, and it is still the most common form of planetary identification in the known Universe.
Public Reaction
When the UPI was first introduced in Adonis, it saw many different opinions, but most weren't a fan. It was a very confusing system for a society that rode around on horses, drawls, and carriages, and seemed to rely only on pen and paper to communicate a message to someone halfway across the country. It was confusing, and strange, but some found it comforting that Portarians knew exactly who was coming in, and going out, of their country. No shapeshifters, disguises, or ruses getting past this guy.
Legacy
UPI's have introduced an easy, quick, and simple way to secure an already very simple system. Due to the countries massive size, it can be hard getting from one Sector to another in a decent amount of time, so portals truly are necessary for travel. But, especially when they are open to the entire Universe, without the UPI there would be no simple way to know who is entering the country. The UPI is a foolproof method, and has brought a wave of security to the residents of Adonis; knowing that all those within the country are deemed safe, and okay to be where they are.
Term
Once registered, the UPI is an ongoing identification method that never needs renewal.
