True Gaishala Myth in Adijari | World Anvil

True Gaishala

There is legend that even some of our most venerated champions, including the Bhat Jahnhassan, have not seen the deeper more hallowed spaces of Gaishala. Here it is believed is the real god realm. What the pilgrims who visit the outskirts speak of- of communing with their deities who grant them wisdom and gifts them with extraordinary things- This is just a way to keep people from asking 'What lies deeper into the mountain?' The boons the spirits offer are just to chase the story away from what lays beyond them. It is believed that anyone who journeys deeper into the Gaishala mountains can demand an audience from most any animal spirit, including those in the Kingdom. It is a place where the laws of nature and magic are vastly different from the mortal plain of Adijari, and not unfavorably towards mortal visitors. The ultimate reason why the Spirits work hard to keep people out is because they have an extraordinary amount of power while there. Within moments of being in True Gaishala, one can attain whatever knowledge they are looking for. This is why the spirits guard the space with a ruse first, by using the infinite knowledge they have to grant a single boon instead of letting us have it all, and with violence second. There are so few confirmed accounts of those who made it into the inner space of Gaishala and made it out because of the monsters that the Gaishala Spirit sets on those who attempt to break in. I have heard of one masterful thief who has done it, who is still suffering the mercenaries of the Gaishala spirit they offended. Aside from her, there are others made it in and out of there, but that safe passage was granted by the Gaishala Spirits. These people agreed to trade the reason for their visit for their identity. Since returning from True Gaishala they have gone on to live in the wild and away from society, having vowed never to speak to anyone again.
