The early humans lived as hunter gatherers. Tribes begin to develop their own unique language and culture. Dragons, the primordial inhabitants of Namoria hunt the early humans, almost driving them to extinction.
"Namor said to us- man was born from the gods five thousand years ago, but only now truly separate from the mere beasts that roam the land."Canon of True Namorites
The early humans lived as hunter gatherers. Tribes begin to develop their own unique language and culture. Dragons, the primordial inhabitants of Namoria hunt the early humans, almost driving them to extinction.
Tribes band together to survive in the harsh world that they inhabit. Terrifying monsters roam the land and raids from more aggressive tribes force the more passive tribes to unite. People are forced to live in thick forests or caves to avoid dragons and monsters.
Discovery of agriculture creates an explosion in growth, the earliest fortified settlements appear. Minor monsters are no longer a catastrophic threat for humans, however, dragons and certain monsters are still at large. Escalation in conflict between tribes. Some tribes end up being subjugated.
In the region of Dravia settlements/villages grow large enough to be considered towns. They become the first bastions of humanity. Basic concepts of government such as laws and military are developed. Lacking many features of stability and centralized authority of later eras, the nations at this stage are primitive in organization. Most monsters are no longer a problem to a fortified town, however due the overwhelming number of monsters, humans are unable to expand their cities beyond the extent of their military manpower, severely limiting growth. Dragons are still a threat- although the larger cities can fend of a minor dragon attack at a high cost, smaller settlements are often destroyed.
“All accounts point to Namor as an individual existed, even if the deeds attributed to him seem farcical. Dear friend- I advise you to keep your eccentric writing to yourself else the sicarii come for you.”Headmaster Gregoras Doudius
Described as a mysterious wanderer, Namor visits the many nations scattered across the continent. He begins to spreads knowledge that was considered magical at the time. Horses are first domesticated, allowing faster travel and logistics.
Throughout his travels, Namor gained many disciples who were enamored by his wisdom and charisma. They named themselves Namorites and wore a symbol of a blazing sun on their cloths. Breakthroughs in metallurgy result in improved tools and weapons. Nations of the northern plateau band together to form the Northern Crusade, naming Namor their military leader.
Dragons, furious due to human insolence, launch a massive attack on the smaller settlements in Dravia. The dragons cause massive loss of life and political instability. This action prompts the crusaders to hasten their preparations
The Elder Dragon, Girdam, leads a dragon horde north and attacks the first northern alliance city of Esen-Tar. Under Namor’s leadership, Esen-Tar secures the first decisive victory against the dragons in mankind's history. Hundreds of dragons are slaughtered. This is the first recorded use of ballista, essentially being giant crossbows. They are proven to be a great success, being able to kill smaller dragons instantly while also being able to maim larger dragons. The crusaders mobilize to reclaim the rest of Northern Namoria, clearing each hive and mountain top of dragons along the way.
Uncertainty arises within the ranks of the crusade regarding who would control the reclaimed lands. Many lords and generals plot against each other, forming sub factions. Dragons, using this to their advantage, turn several lords against the crusade. The traitors call themselves Draconites and are given authority to command lesser dragons. Betrayal at Trisencimae- The Crusaders are betrayed at the hills of Trisencimae. Many lords and generals are slaughtered. Namor himself barely makes it out alive but manages to retreat his remaining forces in an orderly fashion. The Crusaders are pushed back to the northern border with the Draconites occupying Meda as a buffer zone between the dragons and the rest of the humans. The Draconites enslave scores of people and put them to work building cities and monuments to dragons. Throughout time, the flames of dragons and vile sorcery scars the land, turning Meda into a desert.
Crusaders are pushed back to Esen-Tar. Regular dragon incursions impact morale, causing many defectors. Namor barely keeps the Crusade together. The Siege of Esen-Tar begins.
Sword in his hand, Namor and his crusaders sallied out of Esen-Tar and broke the siege in an epic charge. It is said that his sword was gleaming with a radiant light. This marks the end of the Siege of Esen-Tar. Namor proclaims the (Old) Kingdom of Namoria, titling himself as His Radiant Majesty, King of Kings. Believers flock to his service, reinvigorating the cause of the Crusade. His enemies call him the "Phoenix". Sumeria is renamed to Estia and proclaimed the capital.
The Crusaders’ rapid advance takes the Traitor Lords off guard and their kingdoms quickly falls. Thousands of Red Dragons are killed, putting their population down to less than a hundred. Conflict culminates at the Battle of Mount Khadun. During the battle, the mountain erupts spectacularly. The shock wave can be heard across Namoria. Both sides suffer heavy casualties. The Elder Dragon Girdam is slain at the hands of Namor. This marks the end of the Dragon War and a resounding victory for Namoria. Remnants of dragon worshipers persist; however, they no longer pose a threat. According to religious canon, after winning the battle, Namor is crowned by the gods to becomes the God-King. He leads the people into a new age. This marks the beginning of the Consolidation War. Although the majority of the continent is under Namorian control, there are some that reject his authority. Namor, in his belief that mankind must be united for eternal peace, launches a rapid war that would see the continent united for the first time.
The Consolidation War ends, resulting in a united Namoria. God-King Namor introduces major reforms to society such as the foundation of codified laws: aspects of which are still used today, and standardization of language and infrastructure. Innovation thrives under Namor’s guidance, resulting in a rapid technological advancement. Culture becomes more homogeneous, resulting in the creation of a clear Namorian identity. Many names are also translated into the new Namorian language.
In order to cultivate brilliant minds for the future and encourage dialogue, Namor establishes the Grand Council. He lends his ears to his loyal and skilled subjects, hoping to gain new ideas in order to improve the livelihood of his people.
Due to the studious work of dragon hunters, the last dragons are exterminated. The last dragons are seen in Redonica.
Following the fate of dragons, giant monsters that used to terrorize mankind are wiped out for good.
The fall of dragons and monsters allow humans to expand southward to settle lands. Many ex-Dragon Hunters settle in the Redonica region.
The crew of the The Sarpedon, captained by the renowned explorer Adrian, are the first to sail around the continent. Namor is pleased and rewards them greatly.
Namor suddenly passes away, leaving subjects of the kingdom uncertain of the future. This marks the end of the First Namorian Golden Age. One of Namor’s many sons, Namor Damaran II, ascends to the throne as decreed by the Grand Council. He skillfully keeps his father’s realm together.
Social reform- Damaran II introduces a culture defining class system. People are split up into distinct classes, serving a unique role in the new Namoria. Devout followers of Namor, True Namorites, protest but are powerless to sway their king.
Unknown assailants kill Namor Damaran II. Nobles bicker amongst each other, causing a succession crisis. Damaran’s second son, Tidan, takes the throne and is backed by the powerful minister, Aridius Mauros. Tidan instills his devout supporters, replacing some prominent members from his father’s old court. Many minor nobles' houses are consolidated into larger ones.
“Uncle, I value your counsel and companionship. However, I must remind you that I am the rightful heir. I beseech you to end your revolt, for that I shall regard you as my highest adviser, worthy of the most prestigious office in the realm.”Letter from King Tidan sent to King Auran
Auran, Namor Damaran II’s brother, attempts to seize power from his nephew and curb the power of Minister Aridius. His plot is foiled and he is forced to escape from the capital. Many nobles, disenfranchised by Tidan’s shakeup, rally under the banner of Auran who is seen as the proper heir by many. Auran sets up his new power base in Syntaea and declares himself the rightful King of Namoria. The rebellion sets the tone of the era, a period fraught with endless warfare and scheming.
Auran makes the first move, leading a force 20,000 strong to take the border town of Akaeia which was formerly known as Akkadia. The garrison is quickly overwhelmed. Embolden by the quick victory, he marches to secure Esen-Tar. Auran’s navy also blockades shipments coming from Bythia and Dalpeia to Dravia, hoping to put a strain on food supplies.
The Namorian army, led by General Regulus Valerian, attacks Auran on the road. Auran is slightly outnumbered. Epic deeds are recorded during this battle, many counts of nobles challenging each other to single combat. Heads are taken as trophies, harking back to the age of dragon hunters. Although Auran had an advantage at the beginning of the battle due to his positioning on the hill, Regulus personally led a ferocious cavalry charge through Auran’s left flank which caused a cascade of his battle lines. Auran is decisively defeated. Auran retreats back to Akaeia, digging in for a siege. Auran retreats back to Akaeia, digging in for a siege.
Citizens living in Redonica seize power from corrupt nobles, establishing the Grand Redonican Council: a nation ruled by the people for the people. The town of Akaeia is besieged by the royal army. Tidan sends his navy far east around Olos to be undetected.
Akaeia is recaptured by Regulus. Auran retreats back to the capital of Syntaea to consolidate his forces. Regulus does not pursue, but instead spends time to rest and fortify the town. The Royal Navy engages Auran’s navy. The battle is fierce with heavy casualties dealt to both sides. It ends in a draw. The tired Royal Navy retreats to the port in Bythia while Auran’s navy moves back up north to Syntaea. This marks the first naval battle in Namorian history.
Flavius and his forces travel across The Great Lake through Pherus in order to reach Redonica. Harsh taxes are levied on the royal provinces. The governor of Pherus petitions the king to lower taxes.
General Katorian’s army is caught off guard by the Pherans and his army is unable to subdue the Pherans. Flavius is captured, and with no choice, his army surrenders and defects to the side of the Pherans. Governor of Pherus, Rufus Serildor, declares himself the King of Pherus (Kingdom of Pherus). He is known for his just and efficient rule.
Clans and families are split between loyalist and rebel supporters, resulting in violent clashes. A deal is made between Auran and the Governor of Bythia. Bythian nobles agree to support Auran’s kingship.
After years of preparing, Regulus' reinforced and now experienced royal army marches to Syntaea’s capital. An epic siege commences with extraordinary feats of engineering being done. Galav Daia, one of the founders of the Redonican Council and a prominent military figure, takes the forefront and is unanimously elected Princeps, the leader of the council. He completes the liberation of Redonica.
With the loss of Pherus, the Namorians are now vulnerable on two fronts. General Regulus is recalled, being forced to break off the siege of the Capital of Syntaea. Aridius negotiates a truce. Auran, feeling equally threatened by the emergence of Pherus, agrees to a truce of one year. He uses this opportunity to secure his southern border with Bythia and fortify the Dragon Pass leading to Pherus. The Redonican Council expands eastward towards Dalpeia, hoping to capitalise on the divisions in the region.
Pheran troops sail across the lake, attempting to land on the Dravian side. They are intercepted by a small Namorian naval force. Due to the overwhelming numbers, the Namorians use faster hit-and-run ships, and fire attacks in order to delay and cause attrition. Namorian troops inflict high casualties to the Pherans proportionate to their own numbers. However, in the end, the Pherans beat them back and successfully land. General Regulus force marched his army to defend Runid. The two armies clashed on the fields outside of Runid. The Namorians are defeated and Regulus falls back to Esen-Tar. High on morale, King Rufus moves his army north to conquer Western Dravia. The town of Dagrion and Eollus are quickly captured and the countryside is sacked by the Pherans.
With both nations looking to control Bythia, conflict was inevitable. Auran and Galav engage in a proxy war, sending financial aid to various clans and warlords in order to sway them to their side. Auran manages to solidify his support among the nobles, forcing Daia to back out of Bythia.
King Tidan personally leads his army to attack the Pherans at the Westwoods near the road to Dagrion. This marks one of the largest battles to occur with opposing sides being even. Regulus Valerian, after his defeat at Runid, spent the last two years innovating military tactics. Shock cavalry equipped with lances are used to great effectiveness in the battle. King Rufus is slain in battle, causing a complete rout of his army. Flavius Katorian, his general, escapes making Flavius' whereabouts unknown. King Tidan falls ill after the battle. Regulus Valerian is ordered to continue on to Pherus.
Tidan passes much of his responsibilities over to Aridius Mauros due to his failing health. Aridius becomes Lord Regent of Namoria. In retaliation for the sacking of Western Dravia, Namorian troops decimate the north of Pherus. They soon march onto the capital.
The traditionalist faction of the Redonican Council attempt to curb his reelection and force him to resign from his generalship. In response Galav stages a coup and becomes the supreme leader of Redonica. Due to the failure to secure Bythia, Galav decides to capitalize on the ongoing conflict between Namoria and Pherus. Eastern Pherus falls without much resistance.
The Pherans remain under pressure from the Namorian offensive crown, Flavius, the new king. He reorganizes his military forces and prepares to meet Regulus on the battlefield.
The Bythians have lived a life far from the splendors of the other provinces. Many clans/families begin to reject outsiders, tired of being used as pawns. They unite under the banner of Aenepheus Regina, a charismatic noblewoman, and form the Bythian Confederation. Auran’s diplomats and representatives are forced out of Bythia.
King Namor Tidan III, son of Damaran, passes away from illness. Aridius Mauros takes this opportunity to turn Tidan’s heir into a puppet ruler. He replaces many royalist supporters with his own men. Regulus Valerian engages in smaller battles against the Pherans. Both sides lose and win an equal amount of battles. Aridius denies sending reinforcements and supplies to Regulus in an attempt to get rid of him.
Regulus is left without a choice due to dwindling supplies. A march back to his ships at the lake would leave him vulnerable to being attacked in the rear and surrounded due to being deep in Pheran territory. The Namorians are defeated decisively by the Pherans. The entire Namorian army is routed. With this victory, King Flavius is able to now focus on Redonica to the south.
Aridius’ ambition became clear to the public. Many commonfolk praised his effective administration and generosity, however, the royalist in the court see him as an usurper and attempted to assassinate him. Aridius is wounded but most of conspirators are caught and executed. The youngest baby son of Tidan is kidnapped by the remaining royalist. They escaped and eventually met up with Regulus who then declared the Kingdom of Monodravia with the baby as the sovereign and himself as High General.
The Redonicans, in this time of chaos, reject the uncertainty of the Council elections and instead elect Galav as dictator for life. This essentially makes him a king. The Kingdom of Redonica is formed.
With the founding of the Redonican Kingdom, Namoria was once again completely fractured and Royal authority waned. The memory of Namor became nothing but a legend. Warfare continued throughout this period with alliances and truces being formed between the nations. Culture would slowly diverge from Namorian traditions.
Pherans declare war to restore Eastern Pherus.
With royal authority non-existent, the Aurans relinquish their claim to the Namorian throne and instead establish themselves as the rightful rulers of Syntaea.
Due to their family ties, the two kingdoms form a military alliance against Namoria.
After a lengthy and costly conflict, the Redonicans win against the Pherans.
Although piracy has always been present since the beginning of maritime history, the power vacuum and unrest has given opportunity to pirates to be able to control regions of the ocean. Many turn to piracy due to poverty. Those who control fleets of ships are known as Pirate Lords. Olos becomes a haven for pirates. The kingdoms, too occupied with fighting each other, do not bother or dare to attack the pirate stronghold.
Battle of the Plateau - The Kingdom of Namoria is defeated. Weakened after decades of warfare against escalating powers left the kingdom in ruins. The last king of Old Namoria is slain and thus ends the Kingdom of Old Namoria.
Throughout the years, the Southern Provinces have become increasingly prosperous. The destruction caused by the warfare in the north has made it necessary to seek land for resources. The Bythian Confederation collapses under the might of the combined Syntaean-Dravian forces. Bythia is forced to secede most of its lands.
This was fought between Monodravia and Pherus. The war was caused due to fishermen and other traders from both nations violating the coastal borders. The Dravians had the worst of the fighting but both nations came to a compromise, drawing up new official borders.
A marriage is arranged between the Crown Prince of Redonica and the last descendant of Aenepheus Regina. The remaining Bythian lands are consolidated into Redonica.
Redonica declares war on Syntaea in order to reclaim lost lands. Syntaea is defeated and all former Bythian lands are returned. This begins a period of Redonican supremacy in the south of Namoria.
The king of Monodravia successfully pushes his claim to the throne of Syntaea, uniting both kingdoms into one.
A period of Redonican supremacy in the south comes to an end as Dravia and Pherus sort out their internal issues, allying with each other to curb Redonican attempts to unite the continent. The military strength of Redonica was superior to either of the nations; however, against the combined force of the alliance there was virtually no chance of victory. Redonican generals devised a plan to defeat, in detail, the Alliance forces. Redonican naval forces held off the landing from Dravia, fighting both the Pheran and Dravian navy. The army was then split into two. One was to deal with the Pheran army and the other was to deal with the Dravian army from Syntaea travelling through the pass. The Pherans force march, attempting to meet up with the Dravian army from Syntaea. They are decisively defeated. The Redonicans had underestimated the Pheran navy. Over the years, the Pherans had become adept at naval warfare due to combating piracy and a focus on innovating the navy over the army. The Redonican navy was decimated.
The Dravian and Redonican army clashes at the Dragon Pass. Unaware of the naval defeat, the Redonican generals advance through the pass. At first, the battle was a stalemate. The Redonicans defended very well; however, the battle dragged on for a week since both sides were cautious and on the defensive. Time would not be on the side of the Redonicans. The Dravian army from the lake catches the Redonicans by surprise. Redonican troops stand their ground and in a desperate attempt almost break it through to the Syntean side, but the numbers were too overwhelming. The Last Stand at Dragon Pass soon becomes a legend among Redonicans.
With nothing to stop the Alliance advance into Redonica, much of the old Pheran lands fell without resistance. However, the subsequent battles against Redonican guerrillas and militia proved to be less favorable for the alliance. At one point the Redonicans had a resurgence and almost turned the tide of war as the Alliance was getting worn from the years of fighting. Both sides, exhausted from the war, sign a compromising peace treaty. Redonica is forced to give Eastern Pherus back to the Kingdom of Pherus and pays heavy reparations to Dravia. In return, Redonica’s sovereignty stays intact. The Kingdoms agree not to attack each other for at least 10 years. The equal balance of power between the nations give way to a period of relative peace, albeit an uneasy one. For the next century, Namoria would see some of its former prosperity return.
The king of Monodravia decides to pull troops and funding from the wall, deeming it too costly to maintain in a time of peace. The dragon scorched walls are neglected throughout the years, becoming a shadow of its former self.
Redonica attempts to instigate a war, baiting Dravia into attacking first. Inevitably, with flared tensions, low level fighting occurs along the desert river where the borders of the two nations were drawn at the end of the Alliance War. Both nations attempt to bring Pherus into the conflict on their side. In response, the King of Pherus proclaims their neutrality in all future conflicts. Unable to escalate the conflict, Redonica and Dravia sign a treaty. Future incidents of violence would occur but not major enough to warrant another war.
Tensions between Dravia and Redonica cause trade to become restricted and costly. Pherus becomes a center of continental trade. Scores of trading companies are formed. The Dragon Pass becomes a major road for merchants from Syntaea and many trading posts are established along the Redonican-Pheran border.
The worst plague in Namorian history kills millions of people and destroys vital agriculture and infrastructure. Many villages, towns, and cities are abandoned or destroyed due to bandits. Pherus is hit the hardest.
The ruling family of Pherus is decimated by the plague. Social order begins to break down. City governors, in a move to protect their prosperity, break off from the Kingdom of Pherus and general state of quarantine is declared. Lack of central leadership soon leads to the Kingdom of Pherus dissolving. With Pherus no longer being a balancing force in the Tripex Pactum, tensions escalate between The Kingdom of Monodravia and the Kingdom of Redonica-Bythia.
As Redonican nobles and city dwellers isolate themselves in order to rebuild from the plague years ago- the more rural part of Bythia are neglected. Criminals use this opportunity to prowl the land raiding and killing as they pleased. Angry peasants rise up in revolt in order to take matters into their own hands. For a while local rule was established among the many villages, however, the ruler of Redonica knew that war with Monodravia was imminent and had to act fast to secure his realm. A deal was struck between the ruler and the rebels, giving them more rights as commoners but in return they had to renew their oaths of loyalty.
For a time, the newly formed city states were held together by the traditions of the royal court, but conflict was inevitable. Disagreements on borders, fueled by a fierce competition over trade and resources, leads to several small conflicts to break out across Pherus. Some cities sought to ally themselves with either Dravia or Redonica. The more cunning leaders schemed to play both Kingdoms against each other for their own benefit.
Redonica declares war on Dravia under the pretext of protecting their allies. The Kingdom of Monodravia, a year earlier, had moved troops into Pherus to support her dependencies. The city states under Dravia were technically independent; however, they would not exist without Dravia’s military protection. Redonica took the initiative to attack the Dravian allied cities as they were fickle at best. A quick victory would mean they would either surrender or turn to support Redonica. Independent cities form the Pheran League.
Dravia and Redonican forces clash near the town of Mala located near the Featheron Waters in Pherus. Redonica is defeated, however, Dravian forces are unable to capitalize on the victory leaving Redonica being able to retreat and regroup in good order.
This conflict also saw large naval action. Dravia launches attacks the coastal cities of Pherus in order to bring them to heel. The Pheran League quickly re-purpose their merchant ships into warships. Several battles were fought between Dravia and the League. The Dravian navy was superior in almost every way. It was not until later in the year that the Redonican Navy reinforced the Free Cities. Battle at the Mouth - The combined navy of Pheran and Redonica defeat the naval force of Dravia at the Mouth of the Lake. With the loss of naval superiority, The Kingdom of Monodravia is unable to maintain an effective supply line over the Lake and is forced to travel through the longer route of the Dragon Pass.
After many battles, Dravia is forced to sue for peace as they eventually lost foothold in Pherus and risked an invasion from both the League and Redonica. Dravia is forced to open trade to Redonica, making trade through the Dragon Pass flourish. Each of the Kingdoms control one side of the Pass. This trade also benefited Pherus greatly. As a region in between the two kingdoms, many merchants often stop by Pheran ports or trade posts along the way. Those not wanting to deal with tolls either trek through the Meda Desert of simply sail along the Eastern Coast.
The ruler of Redonica dies without a legitimate heir. He designates his bastard son as heir on his deathbed. However, powerful nobles would rather support their favored legitimate member of the Daia-Regina Dynasty. Intense fighting occurs. Redonica is split up into five different factions, all supporting a different pretender to the throne. A distant relative of the Daia-Regina Dynasty takes the throne after defeating most of the pretenders. The Principality of Dalpeia is formed as an autonomous state paying tribute to Redonica. It is also formed as one of the pretenders, simply wanting power. They agreed to help the now new king to the throne.
An abnormal astronomical event occurs. Two bright suns are spotted side by side as the morning rises. It is seen for only for a minute before the suns seemingly merge.
An ambitious young king, Cyrus seeks to restore the glory of Namoria. He is a direct descendant of Namor Auran. He would build on his ancestors military and make sweeping reforms in order to prepare the Kingdom of Monodravia for war.
"Namor proclaimed to the Grand Council - ‘Heed my words, children of mine, revere them for they are gods no less than I'"Imperial Cult Dogma
Cyrus Auran reforms the Kingdom of Monodravia into the Empire of Namoria and proclaims his intentions to unite Namoria. The Imperial Cult is founded- it's believers support Cyrus as Namor Reborn. Namor's original armor and swords are found. Cyrus wears them. This outrages certain religious groups as sacrilege.
Cyrus launches his invasion into Pherus. In response, Redonica and Pheran city states form an alliance against him. Many simply see Cyrus as a mad man using whatever reason he can to justify his ambition. Battle of Centiga Plains occurs which is the first major battle of the conflict. The Namorians and Allies engage in a brutal fight. Outnumbered, the Namorians were almost surrounded by the Alliance forces but a swift charge by Cyrus broke the encirclement. The Allies were defeated and were forced to abandon Northern Pherus. Siege of Pherliana - Cyrus besieges Pherus’ central city which laid on the crossroads. Capturing it would allow him to project his force to the rest of Pherus with ease. Cyrus sends one of his elite legions to deal with Redonican troops reforming in the south to prevent them from joining the siege.
In an attempt to repeat the successes of the earlier Pheran War, they send the bulk of their navy into The Great Lake to cut off supplies from coming by water. Cyrus was prepared for this to occur and lured the Pheran navy into a devastating trap. The bulk of the Pheran navy were made up of larger warship designs and still fought according to outdated doctrine from the Pheran war of 445 AW. On the other hand, the Namorian Navy used faster, more maneuverable ships. The Pheran Navy was caught at the mouth of the river. Without space to move, the smaller Namorian ships easily boarded the ships and could utilize hit and run tactics and fire. Namorians had superior infantry troops and excelled in melee against the Pherans.
Cyrus persisted with the siege, and after a year managed to starve the defenders out. The desperate citizens surrender as Cyrus gives them favorable terms of surrender. He would remark at their sense of duty, not giving up as some cities had and left the city unmolested.
Redonica had been cut off, preoccupied with the Namorian Legion at their northern border to properly reinforce the Pheran League. The city states along the west coast surrendered without much resistance after the battle of The Great Lake.
Namoria completes the conquest after the remaining Southern Pherus forts and cities fall.
Redonica had built a line of forts along their northern border in anticipation of the land invasion. The Namorians slowed down their conquest after Pherus in order to secure it and consolidate power to make the transition to Imperial rule smoother. The breakthrough occurred when the full force of the Namorian Legion, now reinforced by new Pheran citizens, were ordered by Cyrus to storm a point in the defensive line. Many casualties would be suffered by the Namorians but it was necessary in Cyrus’ eyes to secure quick victory before momentum and morale faltered. Cyrus personally commanded a formation of elite troops that he used to break through at the most opportune moment. His plan was successful and his forces passed the line of forts before the other forts could respond.
Cyrus rushes the Namorian Legion to the capital of Redonica. Battle of Vergoi - The Kingdom of Redonica defends against the Namorian Legion. Both sides suffer heavy casualties. The Redonicans in particular fought fearsomely; however, they were simply no match for the more organised Namorians.
After the battle of Vergoi, Cyrus quickly marched his legion towards the capital and besieged it. However, unbeknownst to him, an enemy force was quickly approaching from Bythia in the west. The Bythians had rallied a massive army in response. Cyrus had force marched his army and did not put scouts further west, causing him to be caught off guard. Cyrus was defeated for the first time and forced to retreat to the hills.
Cyrus retreated to the hilly region of Redonica and devised a plan to defeat the numerically superior force against him. His sacrifice at the border meant he was now outnumbered at least 2 to 1. Using the hills and many villages as cover, he divided his army up with himself, once again, leading the strongest troops. By splitting up, it would tempt the enemy general to do the same. He would defeat them in detail, splitting the enemy up in smaller forces so that he could easily gain local superiority. As predicted, the slower less-disciplined combined Redonican-Bythian army split up and attacked the villages and choke points Cyrus had set up on purpose. He would cascade the Bythian army, winning the day. His elite cavalry broke through the flanks of each force one by one.
After the defeat of the Redonican-Bythian army at the Battle of Imbalance, the Redonicans defend the capital to the last man. It is taken without too much difficulty. The rest of Redonica eventually falls as well. The remaining Redonican nobles flee to their holdings in Bythia to continue the fight.
Not wanting to fight, the Prince of Dalpeia acknowledges Cyrus’ rule and his people are spared war. Cyrus, happy with this diplomatic outcome, extends Dalpeia’s provincial border to encompass the entire southern coast.
Cyrus invades Bythia after consolidating his Redonican territories. He marches a brand new legion from Syntaea through the Meda desert to finish the Kingdom of Redonica-Bythia off for good. The Redonicans are pinned from both the north and the south. The Redonicans no longer have the manpower or will to put up a proper fight and their armies crumble.
Cyrus wishes to start off his new empire with stability. He does not seek retribution against his defeated enemies and instead let them hold their old posts if they swear absolute loyalty to him and adopt the faith of the Imperial Cult. Cyrus reorganizes the provinces formally, which are: Dravia, Syntaea, Western/Eastern Pherus, Northern/Southern Redonica, Dalpeia, and Bythia while Meda is a regarded as a special zone. Legions are deployed there to keep watch as smugglers and criminals hide in the ruins and dunes of Meda. Hand picked governors are chosen from the local populace to ensure compatibility and easier integration.
The ancient capital of Estia is rebuilt. Grand temples dedicated to Namor and the Imperial Cult are built. It is regarded as the most beautiful city in all of Namoria due to the legendary waterfall lake as its backdrop. Unification Day is celebrated for the first time, commemorating the victory of the conquests.
The Imperial Council is formed. Similar to Namor’s Grand Council, it is the seat of central governance. Prominent individuals of various backgrounds ranging from civil to military hold a seat according to their class in society. With all of Namoria united, Cyrus worked on implementing his law code, making it so that justice is equal across the realm. Military focus shifted to dealing with bandits and pirates. Trade roads are heavily protected.
Cyrus passes away due to old age. The funeral procession is said to be the grandest in all of history. Imperial craftsmen begin work on a spectacular golden statue in the middle of Estia’s square. His son Gravicus takes the throne as Emperor Gravicus of Namoria.
The core tenants of the True Namorites went against the Imperial Cult. They still held considerable influence among the people as they were respected as keepers of knowledge and history. Emperor Gravicus set up the Imperial Inquisition to root out the True Namorites. Their library and institutions were destroyed. The True Namorites were forced to go underground, living in the hills and mountain sides. This gave rise to the folktale of wise men and seers in the wood.
The Namorian Empire then turned its focus to eliminating piracy once and for all. The Pirate Stronghold of Olos that served as a resting spot for notorious pirate lords was finally rooted out by the Imperial Navy. With the pirates scattered their influence over the seas waned. Criminals of all sorts are sent here - from small time thieves to murderers.
Emperor Gravicus passes away due to illness.
The new Emperor’s first major initiative was to form an institution of learning, filling the void that was presented when the True Namorites were actively prosecuted. A golden age of knowledge and rediscovery occurs.
Although contest of arms have been going on throughout Namoria’s history, this is the first time that it encompassed an entire realm. The new emperor built a grand arena in Esen-Tar and invited warriors from all corners of Namoria to attend and display their skills. A brave warrior from Redonica would win the tournament and become the first Grand Champion. Future tournaments would be held on average every four years.
Even at the unification of the Empire, many provinces still used their local currency. However, to exert more control and standardize trade, the Imperial Bank was formed. The future emperor Nathaniel Eliab is born in Estia.
After his father passed away, Eliab is crowned Emperor. He had been raised to become a ruler. Favored by the court, many look forward to his reign.
Eliab instead proved to be a terrifyingly corrupt and cruel ruler. Many said he was gripped by madness. Proclaiming to be a god greater than Namor himself, he engaged in depravity unheard of. Governors of the many provinces rose up in arms against him in order to restore order to the realm. The current Governor of Redonica was appointed military commander and began to march towards the capital. The Namorian Legions either deserted or were easily defeated by the rebels.
The rebels fought their way through, defeating all of the loyalist forces. Only the Imperial Guard stood in their way. On the field of battle, a dark power struck the rebels and the hundred thousand strong army was utterly ruined. Survivors were not certain of what occurred, leading to many conflicting accounts.
With the defeat of the rebel army at the Plateau, the Emperor had free reign over the realm. He began his reckoning on those who rebelled, slaughtering and enslaving, destroying the cities of the provinces. He had a twisted vision of everyone living in one single city under his rule.
