Audren

An influential theocratic nation in Avasi, composed mostly of dwarves, with a strict religious hierarchy. Audren has poor relations with the nearby Centaur populations, and historically has had some on and off conflicts with them.   The ruler is actually relatively weak, though is not intended to be this way, and other high-ranking priests hold the true power. In this nation, arcane magic is viewed as evil and absolutely banned. Audren also frequently wars with its neighboring nation of Nehi, whose people it considers heretics.

Structure

Audren is led by a monarch, who is also a high priest of Zosoa, with high priests of Ennera and Idali as their advisors. Below them is a council of officials (most, but not all are also part of the clergy) who are appointed by the high priests, and handle many of the day-to-day affairs of the nation.

Territories

The far northeast of Avasi: north of Solir, east of Nehi, south of the World's Roof, and to the northeast of Nyreba.

Military

Audren's military is led by a Warpriest, who is supported by four experienced paladin-generals. Though paladins tend to take leading roles in the army, and clerics often serve as battle medics, most of Audren's soldiers have no divine powers.

Religion

Religion is very important in Audren, being a major motivation behind its conflicts with Nehi and the nearby centaurs. The Audrenese dwarves refuse to honor Jovac in any way, believing them a false god.   They also believe that arcane power was never intended to be used by mortals, and that arcane spellcasters defy the gods by using magic that wasn't given to them. The one exception to this rule is, of course, sorcerers with a divine origin for their power.

Foreign Relations

Though its relationship with Nehi (and with most of the centaur tribes in the area) undeniably hostile, Audren is friendly to the Solirian Empire to its south and often trades with small dwarf kingdoms in the World's Roof to the north. Once, it was also an enemy of the Nyreban empire, but their conflicts have been resolved.

Agriculture & Industry

Though much of Audren is relatively dry, special techniques (and magically conjured water) have made widespread agriculture possible outside of the normally arable areas.
