Personal history
Ashley's family was very poor. After his parents died, it was up to his older brother to take care of them. Ash was 5 and his brother was 16. His brother could barely keep a job and he fell into the wrong crowd, getting involved with gang members and gambling. Even though Ash was still a kid, his brother had him do the grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning. Ash was also home schooled.
One thing Ash kept from his parents was his dad's laptop. Through this he was able to get online, and already had a way with computers thanks to his power, where he can mentally communicate with electronic devices. As he got older, Ash learned all he could about computers as well as how to hack, and became very good at it. When Ash was about 12-13, he found that people would pay to see him take pictures of himself in cute clothes doing cute poses. He would always hide his face and would never show genitals, but he had people paying him a good amount of money to see his photos. Since Ash had already been wearing clothes intended for girls since he was young, wearing them for photos wasn't a big deal. A neighbor they had while Ash was growing up would give him hand me down clothes of their daughter's because they thought Ash was a girl. They weren't able to afford Ash any new clothes, so those clothes were pretty much all he had to wear, but Ash actually liked some of the clothes. His brother also encouraged him to wear whatever he wanted, saying that if it's clothes that Ash wants to wear, then it's Ash clothes. It was one of the good points about his brother. His brother was kind, just not good with money and had a gambling addiction.
Ash was helped out by Shinya one day, when Ash started to get harassed by some guys. Shinya gave Ash a business card so he could contact him if he ever needed help. Which Ash then did need help from Shinya when gang members came to collect the money his brother owed. The gang members started to ransack their place, but found nothing of value since Ash had hid everything well, and so they then took Ash's brother with them. Ash then called Shinya who got there in minutes. After comforting Ash some, Shinya got the authorities involved and was able to rescue Ash's brother. However, because of some of the illegal things Ash's brother did unbeknownst to Ash, he went to jail. Which became a good thing, because it was one that focused on reform, and so Ash's brother got the help he needed to cope with his gambling addiction and learned skills he needed for jobs.
Ash however would have gone to an orphanage, since his only guardian was now in jail, if not for Shinya. Since the gang that came after his brother would most likely also come for Ash, Shinya set him up in an apartment that had good security where most of the residents were people that Shinya knew. Ash wasn't going to accept this for free however, so Shinya made him a deal where if Ash used his hacking skills to help Shinya out then that would be him working to pay for the apartment and such.
