Steam Magitech

In the year 1490 a young inventor known as Capricornus made leaps and bounds in the realm of magical technology. What came to be known as the Steam Magitech Revolution, Capricornus did by himself what others failed to accomplish for centuries. He found a way to bind fire and water aspected elemental spirits to machines and create a never ending source of steam to power the many devices of the day. From the day of its inception over the next 5 years it became increasingly widespread not only in the kingdom of Apreau where it was originally made but across other kingdoms and countries the world over. Within that timeframe trains were retrofitted from regular steam combustion to the new steam magitech to speed up the transportation of goods and people. The kingdom of Apreau became a booming center of industry.

Manufacturing

Most of the mechanical pieces required for the various technologies are simple and easily made. The cores require delicate manufacture and only were made in Capricornus' own workhouse. None but he were allowed entry into it and none know the process for creating the cores other than him.

Access & Availability
The technology became widely available almost immediately after its creation.
Complexity
The technology is fairly simple on the outside mostly mechanical and all done before. The intricate inner workings of the core, however, are another matter entirely. The core is a delicate balance between bound elemental spirits of fire and water that create the never ending supply of steam. To this day no one has been able to recreate the process for making these cores.
Discovery
What is known of the actual discovery is very little, what is known is who and why it was discovered not the how. Who being Capricornus and why being to complete the race to find the next big technological advancement.
