Persea's Hold

Persea’s hold, is a great temple dedicated to the Goddess of Endurance, Persistence, Sacrifice, Martyrdom and Prophecy. This building is found in the capital city of Perseodinane in the country of Astoydan. After Persea's prophet, Aryennos the Light Seer, accomplished her goals of freeing her people from demonic overlords and brought the barbarian tribes to heel in the north she disappeared from her followers into thin air. So strong was their devotion to their saviour and Goddess that the people, who came to call themselves Perseads, built this great temple and created the nation of Astoydan in honor of both.

Purpose / Function

The building is multi-purpose. It's main functions are for coronation of the Maiden marked by the Light Seer, a temple for prayer and also as a shelter in times of war should the capital ever come under attack. The only time in its history where it was used for this third purpose was when the neighboring country of Apreau was destroyed by unknown forces and many of the country's denizens came to Astoydan seeking shelter and asylum.

Architecture

The building is built similarly to European Gothic architectural style. There are many stained glass windows in the main floor of the building that reach 70 feet high from floor to arched ceiling. There are two large circular stained glass windows at the front and back of the buildings main floor that depict the Goddess Persea, front, and her prophet the Maiden Aryennos the Light Seer, back. Deep beneath the main cathedral there is a mausoleum for every single Maiden who has ruled over Astoydan since its creation.

History

The building was constructed over the course of one hundred years after the initial founding of Astoydan in honor of Persea and her prophet the Maiden Aryennos the Light Seer. It has since stood with little alteration being made to it as the Perseads are quite diligent in the upkeep of their buildings and structures within their domain.
