Day 7 of being infected by those large mostrosities no wonder the royals want them and all of their kin dead. This pain is intoxicating, I'm trying to fight this nawing headache. My head is thrumming with intensity and I can't help but to give in sometimes. The heat is like standing near a bonfire, I can feel the Karathigan-kin crawling inside. It's getting harder to breathe with each passing day. My life will be ended and wasted and I'm the last of my line. I should be arriving at the temple to help within a few days but my life is coming to a close, this is my final log. I only wish I could have said I love you to my husband.
Transmission & Vectors
The bite of a Karathigan is the way to gain this parasite. The condition is not contagious in any other way.
Causes
The Karathigan's bite once inserted into the host will begin to hurt, the infected area will begin to pulse and the small, grey, leech-looking creature will begin to burrow into the skin and start to slowly make its way towards the lungs and heart of the victim. The environment, of The Wild Wood, has not changed the bite per-say but it has changed the feel to the bite, whereas the parasite would enter and it would be freezing and wet sensation, it feels like leaves passing by and getting scratched by some thorny vines.
Symptoms
Once the parasite is inside the host and has burrowed 1/2in into the skin to fit its body, moss will begin to grow from the point of entry, and as the parasite begins to move the more the moss will follow and spread. The host body will then begin to start a fever trying to kill the parasite, but the hotter the body gets the more and more the parasite will move faster. The mind will then see their worst fears and those fears will be more and more intense, this can be fought but the tougher the fight will be.
Treatment
The moss that is growing from the skin, if used and combined with the Uroplatus Sign is parasite will be attracted to the Sign user and can be extracted, the extraction process can take somewhere between 2 to 10 hours depending on how deep the parasite was and how much it has grown inside.
Prognosis
The condition can be fatal if the parasite has grown between 9 to 12in if that has happened then the only way to kill the creature is to take the host's life with it until it reaches that length the parasite can be extracted. The growth of the parasite is most important because the more heat that you give to the creature the faster it will grow and the smaller the host gets to live.
Hosts & Carriers
The only carriers of this parasite are the Karathigan and they themselves have a deeper connection to this parasite and do not get any of the side effects or downfalls.
