40. Degradbleu and Pirates, too!

General Summary

With Idan’s assistance, the adventurers were transported to Rouge-Aun, Grand Magister Alexandre's personal estate in the region of Degradbleu. While at the mansion, Idan endowed the party with a set of items he received from Alexandre’s will before they parted ways. Then, the group traveled on-foot west towards the city of Deux Bleu. In the morning of the second day of their trek, Andraste once more prayed to Pelor for assistance in reviving Alexandre. The pleas were met with a vision which brought Andraste briefly to face a porcelain faced entity and a cityscape of spires and muted colors in a place which resembled the Astral Plane. Though the party did not know of the location, they expediently shared the information with Master Angramax through a sending before resuming their travels. Later that night, the adventurers were beset by a group of bandits once more led by the notorious Lyzer Fes. However, with some well-placed spells and a bolt to the back of the bandit leader, the group was summarily defeated.

By the afternoon of the following day, the adventurers at last arrived in Deux Bleu. Kent casually stole a jar of grape jelly from a stall; though they contemplated also pocketing bread from a bakery, Jester went ahead and bought a loaf for them all to share. At the docks, they sought passage for a ship heading towards Wiltide which led to pay for fare on the Winona’s Whistle. The party then visited the vessel in the city’s outer docks and met its captain, a dwarf named David Waveheart. They then spent the bulk of the evening having drinks and relaxing at the Jolly Dodger tavern before resting in the bunks of the Winona’s Whistle for the night. At the crack of dawn, the adventures awoke to the ship leaving the docks.

About a week and a half into their voyage, the captain and crew spotted a large ship in the distance which continued on a path towards their own. The situation escalated when the unknown ship shot large balls of metal towards the Winona’s Whistle, causing moderate damage. With their vessel in dire straits, the adventurers leapt into action. Using a giant magical hand conjured by André , Kent and Varris hovered towards the opposing ship. Meanwhile on the Whistle, the captain and crew worked to keep the ship moving towards the enemy ship, even despite the damage it continued to suffer. However, a few fireballs from Kent sent their attackers fleeing and the vessel set aflame. With the pirates absconded, André teleported onto the ship in search of spoils, though shortly after, the vessel exploded. The force of the explosion rendered André unconscious, launched his body away from the ship, and into the water. The rest of the party then scrambled to locate and get a hold of the bard before he bled out or drowned. They succeeded in rescuing André and returned to the ship to continue their journey. With the damages sustained, Captain Waveheart set course for the city of Arville to conduct repairs.
