Silk fairies
Silk fairies are kept and protected by the Kingdom of the Moons and the Kingdom of the Elements. these little tiny human-like creatures with butterfly wings keep and breed silkworms. They build their homes in caves with silkworms and care for and protect them. They use silk to make everything from their cocoon-like homes to beautiful dresses.
Silk faires and humans have an interesting symbiotic relationship. the silk faires do not have the means to die silk, while the Lunerials and Elementals do. The faires will collect silk from the worms and give it to their human counterparts that they might dye it and return half to them. This is a lot of silk to lose for both parties, so is it worth it?
Well, it can be difficult to collect and care for silk warms and they do all of this, and they have plenty of silk or they would not be willing to part with half just to color it. Silk faires are not captives and are free to leave. The language of the silk faires is complex and is just recently beginning to be understood in some more progressive silk cities, such as Celeston, with the most advanced and integrated fairy population in the modern world. The silk faires, on the other hand, have quite quickly learned the language spoken by Lunarians and Elementals, of course, they are unable to reproduce our strange tones with their voices.
In more primitive farms, the farmers take care of sick faires in the community, they bring more worms for them when they can, and celebrate holidays with their fairy settlers. The faires often times see the silk farmers as kind doctor friends they happen to trade with, and farmers tend to see the faires almost like little sons and daughters. They tend to love and care for them as if they are family.
In more advanced farms, silk fairies and silk farmers have a very specific written agreement that outlines their trading agreement exactly. This includes what the fairies prefer to eat, how much food they need for their villages, and even transportation.
The silk trade is an important and lucrative business. the faires and the farmers live very well off with anything they could ever want. Since aligning with the farmers, their societies have become very complex and their population which used to dwindle are thriving.
