Oldbark

A town within the nation of Feland. A fairly unassuming little town that, more than any other within the nation, has attempted to focus on a quiet, uneventful, mundane life for itself and its citizens. Apart from the connection to Cumula and Hyrell that forms a triangle of sea routes between the three, the most noteworthy thing about Oldbark is that a lot of the population is young and motivated. More than any other settlement in Feland, the youth of Oldbark have an insatiable drive for adventure, often preparing themselves for short and small journeys away from home while as young as 10-years-old (for humans) or an equivalent point of youth. While not every young person eventually becomes an adventurer or traveler of sorts after these initial treks, about half of them do and move onto other places like Balam, Mysid, Yasoga, or even as far as Truce in order to properly continue an education or training that will set them up for a life of adventure, or sometimes they simply give in to wanderlust and continue going even further.   One other noteworthy thing about Oldbark is that the wildlife of the area seem to have a greater tolerance and capacity for interacting with the townspeople as compared to other settlements. This often leads to many of the citizens, especially the youth, to have one or more unusual pets of sorts. It's fairly common to see a person walking around with a squirrel perched on their shoulder, a raccoon chasing their feet, a deer softly following their steps, or maybe a pigeon flying over their head. There's even folktales of some young people taking these animal companions with them on their journeys and working together as teams to brave the dangers of Zatvor. Whether there's any truth to these stories or if it's simply tall tales has yet to be confirmed.
