Sabzaby

Every year the sky slowly tinges ever greener. This does not happen in any substantial way, so as to change the color of the light from the heavens, but enough to be noticeable from the, theoretically, normal blue. Blue is believed to be the normal state of the sky, as it is written that way in many ancient texts. Days before the Chandrang the sky reaches a peak in its green hue. The nights leading up to the Chandrang are often seen in paintings or retold in stories as moments of building tension, since arrays of vibrant blue light spreads throughout the sky. On the night of the festival however the blue is seemingly burned away by the hand of Ædrellan. This further symbolizes the event as a return to order brought about by the god.   The Sabzaby, as it is called in some tails from the elves, is written about in cryptic ways from yet older texts. These texts claim that the event is some sort of plant-like creature that was fabricated by the people of that time with the assistance of the elves. The elves, for a wonder, do not recall this tale and state only that the passage is correct in its statement of the green mass being a type of plant. Since flight to that sort of height has yet to be achieved by any person or even practitioner, the claim has yet to be verified. Further research finds a reference to a "Devine Balefire" as a reason for its supposed creation. It is unclear if the "plant" was meant to protect the world from this balefire or if it was in retribution for its creation. Current scholars believe it may be the latter as a punishment for the ancient civilizations unbalancing the world.
