Eastaden

In response to repeated outbreaks of violence and less than civil acts within many large cities, a new mixture of herbs, known as Eastaden has begun to see widespread use. The mixture claims to remove the less than desirable parts of Beast-Folk heat cycles. The mixture comes in a purple potion of thin viscosity and is taken 8 days before the beginning of the cycle. The discovery of this mixture's effects came from within the Æriakh Academy. A small group of 8th year students submitted it as a graduating thesis and it has since then spread across the continent. The apparent need for this treatment caused many to take it simply at face value and others to even begin prescribing it to the masses within a few months of its development. Within recent years major side effects have been experienced by those taking Eastaden. These have, so far, not been life threatening. The most prevalent side effect noted has been the reduction in frequency or halting altogether of the cycle. It is yet unclear as to whether this will effect the races in the long term with regards to their abilities to reproduce.
Physical side effects are not the only problem encountered by the races consuming this medication. Those who do not take this medicine have seen mistreatment and/or alienation from others. Citizens are afraid of the possible violent outbursts from others near untreated Beast-Folk who are within these cycles. In counterpoint those races with more frequent cycles have become financially burdened in many cities by their heightened need for medication. This adversely effects many races of Beast-Folk who already see persecution in society, further impoverishing those races. This is not the case within a few regions. In regions such as Url'Thiir, where the citizenry lives in a quasi-feudal system, the medication is provided at no cost to any who requests it.
