Chandrang

At the start of the year the sky illuminates in a technicolored display of light. Vast tendrils streak across the sky, dancing about like some celestial jelly fish. This is treated as a day of glorious celebration among the masses. They believe that the hand of Ædrellan can be seen spreading Aura throughout the world and restoring balance again.   This day is celebrated with bright, and sometimes nauseating, clashes of colors in clothing. Though the lights are visible in the day and the holiday is said to be the entirety of the day, the people truly celebrate after dusk when the colors shine vividly in the contrast of the night sky. Venders and merchants take to the streets in stalls designed for these night time festivities and sell wares that would otherwise never grace their shops. Fish mongers frequently sell squid dyed multiple colors by varying spices; This is only made possible by the traders of Url'Thiir drastically reducing the price of their spices at this time, in accordance with agreements set forth by the council of Townsville. Weavers set out technicolored bolts of fabrics woven just for the occasion; A particularly popular style of Baft, that's colors change in the light, is also sometimes seen, provided the metals can be found that year. In cities with more generous lords or rulers, the festivities may even be partially subsidized by the city.   People celebrate this day with much merrymaking and consumption of libations. In some smaller towns and cities, where the population is not so large that a person partaking in tom-foolery would go unnoticed, even the city watch is aloud a day of relaxation. After the celebrations however, cities such as those often find they must do more work the next day than any other, hangovers be damned.   The Great Sundering happened on one of these such dates, or at least so claim the elves. With the hand of Ædrellan being pierced by the mass from the heavens. They are unclear as to whether this event was the will of Ædrellan or perhaps a more nefarious plot. Students at Æriakh Academy have spent many nights pouring over this annual event for some non-divine answer and as yet have found no information.
